Full description
You will start at the old Hippodrome of Constantinople which was the sports and social center of the old city. More recently known as Sultan Ahmet it is still home to some of the major works of art from all over the world, which were brought there by Theodosius The Great to raise the image of the city. These include the Obelisk from Egypt, Serpentine Column from Delphi and fountain of Willhelm II, which was constructed by the German government. From there you will continue to the Blue Mosque, whose six minarets are a key fixture of Istanbul’s skyline. Admire the 17th-century edifice, and marvel at the thousands of bright blue Iznik tiles that coat its interior. Next, head for the Topkapi Palace, the opulent palace-turned-museum that was home to the Ottoman emperors between the 15th and 19th centuries. Hear anecdotes about the sultans and their entourages, and wonder at the riches of its courts and pavilions, including the jewel-stuffed treasury and priceless displays of Oriental porcelain. Move on to the Hagia Sophia, built as a basilica in the 6th century before the Ottomans turned it into a mosque in the 15th century. Behold the dome and stunning Byzantine mosaics of this architectural gem as your guide recounts its turbulent history. Then its time to visit the Grand Bazaar with over 3,000 shops selling everything from carpets to jewellery to ceramics and leather goods, to the Spice Bazaar with its incredible smell from almost every spice imaginable, as well as dried fruits and nuts, sweets and the ubiquitous Turkish Delight, it is mind blowing to the first time visitor. This is not helped by the traders shouting out and tempting you in with various offers, many of which will be quickly forgotten should you venture inside.

Pick up was on time, tour guide was awesome! Very patient as much as we used to delay the group. The most important as a tour guide he was Informative. After the tour ended, he "Ensar" stayed longer to make sure we are not going to the wrong people to buy from.

My friend and I had a great time on this tour. Ms. Ezgi was great! She was super knowledgeable and very friendly. We had great conversations even in between the tour highlights. It was great to visit some of the historical highlights of the city in one day. She also took a to a cistern that had been converted into a small museum. The same building also housed a carpet , pottery , and jewelry shops. There was also a lady working on a beautiful carpet. I would also like to thank the tour agency City of Sultons. From start to finish they were great. They were always quick to respond to my messages and they helped us to organize special transportation to and from our hotel, since we were on the Asian side. I hghly recommend the tour and the company.

Matt was an excellent guide!!! From the moment he picked me up from my hotel I could feel a very good and positive energy. He was funny and his English was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable, informative, and kind. I was on the tour by myself with another woman and he made us feel super comfortable and kept asking if we were okay and needed to rest. It was a very long day but nonetheless I had such an amazing experience. Matt explained his culture and love for his country with such passion that I had chills that ran up my spine. I highly recommend using Matt as your guide if you want to have fun and explore Istanbul.
