Full description
Begin your journey of Ottoman history with a bright and early pickup from your hotel in Istanbul, where you will be greeted by your guide who will take care of you throughout the day. Head straight to Söğüt, the Ottoman Empire’s birthplace, whereupon arrival your guide will take you on a walking tour. Walk in the footsteps of Turkey’s great hero Ertuğrul Gazi and visit his tomb where he was laid to rest in 1288. Feel like an Ottoman hero and hire traditional Alp or Hatun clothes, for men and women, respectively, and snap Instagram-worthy pictures. Next, head to the tomb of Sheikh Edebali, Ertuğrul Gazi’s mentor who was considered the spiritual founder of the Ottoman Empire. Visit the impressive Orhan Gazi Mosque, built in 1332 and the first Ottoman Mosque with a lead dome. Then, make your way to İnegöl where you will visit the tomb of Turgut Alp, known as one of the greatest warriors of the Ottoman Empire, and a very close confidant of Ertuğrul Gazi and later his successor, Osman I. Continue your tour with a visit of the first capital city of the Ottoman Empire, Bursa. Visit the Tophane area of the city, where the founders of the Ottoman Empire are buried in two ancient Byzantine structures. End your tour with a visit of the Grand Mosque of Bursa, built between 1396 and 1399, and marvel at its structure that withstood the test of time. Best of all, choose from either a group or private guided experience to make your trip special. Enjoy lunch along the way, and take your time to walk through the ancient Bazaar and pick up some souvenirs to bring home.

The tour was very nice. It was exactly what we wanted to see. Unfortunately, the tour guide didn't speak English and didn't know any history about the tour. So she couldn't tell or explain anything to us. We still enjoyed the tour.
