Kuala Lumpur: Local Street Food Night Tour

1. Kuala Lumpur: Local Street Food Night Tour

Meet your host at a pre-arranged meeting point and chat about your favorite foods and dishes before heading to the Jalan Bukit Bintang area to sample some fantastic street food options at Hutong Food Court. Sample some crispy barbecue roast chicken buns known as Siew Bao, and try a curry puff pastry filled with chicken that will bring baked goods close to your heart. Then, take a short stroll to Jalan Alor to discover where all the food magic really happens at your second tasting stop. Stroll among the rows of hawker stalls and watch the locals fill their tables with food. Try typical Chinese dim sum tasting bites, and get your lips around some Satay Lok Lok (grilled satay sticks) with a peanut sauce guaranteed to have you licking your fingers! Take the locals advice and eat at a Mamak food stall at Mamak SK Corner. Here, you can try some paper dosas and experience the very thin pancakes usually eaten with Indian sauces such as curry sauce or coconut chutney. Wash it all down with a typical teh tarik, a milk tea drink commonly found in South East Asia.

We had a lovely evening with Manjeet! She was extremely knowledgeable about the food, history, and culture of KL and Malaysia. In addition to teaching us about the foods we ate, she also taught us about Malaysian life and the different cultures within Malaysia. We have done a handful of food tours in multiple countries and this was one of the best. Manjeet also gave us some solid recommendations for the rest of our travels. Most importantly, she was fantastic with our daughter (18 mos). Highly recommend!

This was a superb tour. This tour is an introduction to Malaysian food. I enjoyed it so much that I am doing a longer food tour tomorrow! My guide was very knowledgeable and gave me a cultural and historical background of Malaysian food. He was very warm and welcoming. It felt like I was doing a tour with a friend. This tour is a must for your first time in Malaysia!

We really enjoyed this food tour. TK, our guide was incredibly warm and welcoming with lots of local knowledge to share with us. We were able to try a range of delicious food options across the tour, with some extra recommendations for additional spots to try for the rest of our stay.

TK was an excellent host, had real knowledge of the local street food scene and navigated us through the busy streets with a walkthrough of all the items being prepared. He was friendly and flexible to customise the your according to our requirements.
