We enjoyed the trip to the Cullinan Mine, though we were a bit surprised that only the old rusty installations were shown. We didn't see the new facilities of the mine's area. In the afternoon we went to Pretoria. We very much enjoyed visiting the Voortrekker Monument and the Kruger House, both great historical sites. We felt that half a day in Pretoria (coming from Jo'burg) is too short to see it all. A full-day Pretoria tour should be offered to the visitors -- we didn't see the Union Buildings from nearby unfortunately. And there is so much more to see! Our guide Sam was kind and professional; we were glad to have him join us.

Our guide on this tour was Vincent. He did an excellent job explaining to us Voortrekker movement, covering important details that tie into the history of South Africa. After the tour we really had a deep understanding of important dates and historical figures. He was also very professional and fun.

it was great to have a guide and chauffeur to get to the places. however, it was not very well planned: we arrived 1 hour too early to the guided tour of cullinan and bought coffee for everybody while waiting. we ended up having lunch at a fast food, although we would have preferred something more south african and we felt like obliged to invite the guide and chauffeur. the guide knew very little about the history of Paul Kruger and the afrikaners. they did not know that the union buildings were closed on saturday and we lost time looking for the entrance without success.
