Go ask your friendly tour guide to take pictures that can go on your Facebook picture! And don’t forget to bring your empty bottle! Go up to the main Shrine, pray for your health and get some spring water that is said to purify your bad spirits. After having a peaceful time at the shrine, the bus will have a quick stop at Odawara Station and head back to Shinjuku Station getting there around 6:50pm.

Get on the bus from one of the several departure locations in central Tokyo (shuttle bus service) and head towards Japan’s former capital city between the 12th and 14th-century: Kamakura. 'Hachi' in Japanese means 'eight' and 'ri' is a measurement of approximately 4km these days. Therefore Hachiri means the difficult 32km of mountain path which travellers in the past need to walk in order to reach Edo. In this tour, we will walk some parts of this 32 kilometre pathway. Our Hakone Hachiri tour starts from Hakone Yumoto. We take the bus together to reach Hatajuku where the Amazake Tea House locates. After some Japanese snacks and a cup of energising amasake, we walk on the cobble stone path along the old Tokaido Highway to reach Lake Ashi where we will have a break admiring the lake, Mt Fuji and the Torii gate of Hakone Shrine which is always seen in the postcards of Hakone. Then we walk along the lake and through the famous cedar avenue with trees that are more than 400 hundred years old. After this, we reach the Hakone Checkpoint - the gate where the Edo government controlled the traffic of travelers. Lunch will be followed in a local Japanese restaurant. After lunch, we take a bus to get past Hakone Pass - the highest point which was difficult for the old days travellers. Then we continue the walk on this highway towards Mishima. You will walk past the Mishima Skywalk and take pictures having the skywalk as our background. In Mishima, we visit Genbe River, a part of Unesco's Geopark at the end of this journey. We will finish at around 5pm at Mishima Station where you can catch a bus back to Hakone or continue your journey to other destination.
