Join an experienced chef who will lead a cooking class to prepare a traditional Nepali meal while also learning about the food culture of the region. This activity also includes a visit to a local market to pick up the ingredients needed to cook your meal.  After your prick up from your hotel, visit a typical local market of Kathmandu-Ason on a rickshaw to have an authentic experience. Meet local merchants and see the hustle and bustle of the busy shopping hub in Kathmandu. After the market visit, it is time to start the cooking class. Learn about various local delicacies of Nepal and how they are cooked and what type of ingredients are used. You will make beloved and traditional foods like momo, varieties of yummy curries, a unique bread that includes roti and the absolute favorite Sel roti which is slightly similar to American donuts. Have fun as you listen to Nepalese folk music during your class and at mealtime and also learn some Nepalese phrases as well.

You will be picked up from your hotel and transfer to cooking school. Your cooking teacher will welcome you and take you to kitchen. Before start cooking, you will have a short briefing about today's program. Once you are ready, you will wear apron and start doing activities. You will be ask to participate actively to understand and enjoy. She will teach how to cook, volume of the fire or timing. You will know how to cook plain rice (the quantity of rice, water and cooking time) You will know how to prepare Dal Soup (lentil soup) the quantity of dal, salt, spices, water and timing. Chop the seasonal vegetable and learn how to cook (quantity of oil, salt, vegetable, the spices, water and timing) Achar pickle preparing (there are many different spices in Nepalese cuisine) You will learn one of them with tomato, sesame seed, lemon and green coriander. Fried Chicken in Nepalese way You can take photos, short videos and can ask many questions with your teacher about cooking or etc. Once food is ready you will try Yummy Dal Bhat with your teacher. After taking lunch, you can take picture with your teacher and take some time free. Before you leave, she will offer you a Nepali tea (Masala Tea). Good bye for this time.

A lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed Bit disappointed with the market visit as it was just a local shop and felt it wasn’t quite a full morning as back at Hotel by 11.30 The chef was very competent but was however a local student here in Kathmandu
