The medieval defender of Lithuania – Kaunas Castle now remains the heart of the city. The city was created near it. The Franciscan brothers, Bernardines and Jesuits have all worked there and have left the most beautiful religious buildings in the city (St. George, Vytautas and the Jesuit Church). From here, the only city in Lithuania, the Hanseatic merchants built trading routes.
