Cygnet Bay Giant Whirlpool Tidal Boat Experience

5. Cygnet Bay Giant Whirlpool Tidal Boat Experience

Your sea safari departs from Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm on an amphibious sea vessel. Transfer to the tour vessel, a 12-seater rib with twin 250-horsepower engines, ideally suited for the tides in the area. Feel the power of the world’s largest tropical tides as you cruise among the giant whirlpools and standing tidal waves. Venture into Escape Passage, recently described by scientists as having the fastest ocean currents in the world. The tides on this section of the Kimberley Coast are particularly large due to the area’s geography. When the sun and moon align on a spring tide, the ocean is pulled towards the north-west of WA and Indonesia, gathering speed as it reaches the shallow continental shelf and bottle-necking as it passes between Australia and Indonesia. This creates the exhilarating whirlpools and standing waves you will see on the tour. With turquoise blue water and white sand beaches largely untouched by human interference, the region around Cygnet Bay is considered one of the most beautiful locations in all of Australia. Extend your stay for a night or longer and experience life on the tip of the Dampier Peninsula with a million star view.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. The driver and guide (Lisa) for my tour is most friendly, approachable, knowlegable, and professional. She promptly drove the bus to our hotel for the morning pickup - and she gave excellent commentary during the trip. The activities are very enjoyable and well-organised. This included the wildlife habitat visit (with included morning tea), guided rainforest leisure walk, included lunch at a nice safe water-hole, included local ice-cream eating at an ice-creamery, and hour-long Daintree boat ride - where we actually spotted small crocodiles in their natural habitat in the Daintree river. We were well looked after. And the food/lunch was excellent.

Even the weather help, had to admit if the sea is roughly then it will be all different. But it is something out of their control, otherwise all was well worth.

Very informative and revealing so much about the buccaneer archipelago

Joel was a fantastic tour guide, so knowledgeable and friendly
