From Kuala Lumpur: Kuala Selangor Fireflies & Wildlife Tour

1. From Kuala Lumpur: Kuala Selangor Fireflies & Wildlife Tour

This tour will take you to Kuala Selangor in the quiet hamlet of Kampung Kuantan, where one of the largest firefly colonies in the world exists. When you arrive, you'll visit Kota Melawati, formerly known as Fort Altingsburg, with its old execution block, royal mausoleum and colonial buildings. You'll experience the highlight of the tour at Kampung Kuantan. As a small, non-motorized boat (tong kang) carries you upstream in the peaceful night, you'll notice an array of blinking trees. At first, this sparkly display looks like an endless row of Christmas trees, but the synchronized, rhythmic flashing is actually produced by thousands of fireflies. Your skilled local oarsmen will make this experience a memorable and unforgettable one.

From Kuala Lumpur: Private Fireflies Tour and Seafood Dinner

2. From Kuala Lumpur: Private Fireflies Tour and Seafood Dinner

You will be picked up from your hotel in central Kuala Lumpur and driven to Kuala Selangor, approximately 1.5 hours away. Kuala Selangor is a small village on the banks of the Selangor River. The village is well-known, as you can find millions of fireflies there.   Upon arrival you’ll visit Bukit Melawati, where Fort Altingsburg is located. A lighthouse strands on top of the hill, surrounded by tall trees. Look out for local birds, silvered leaf monkeys and long-tailed macaques. You’ll head to a nearby fishing village for a typical seafood dinner before making your way to Kampung Kuantan.   At around 6:30 PM you’ll board a boat and row along the river to see the fireflies. Millions of fireflies present you with a dazzling display of lights flickering in synchrony, that resemble twinkling electric lights on a Christmas tree. You will be dazzled at the sight. At 8:30 PM, you’ll depart from Kuala Selangor and drive back to Kuala Lumpur in the comfort of a private vehicle.

See some of the Hindu temples that have been established here since the early 1900s, such as the temples to Lord Murugan, Siva, and Ganesh. Next, you will go to Kuala Selangor, one of the most historic and conflicted areas during the early stages of the Malay Sultanate Selangor. It is also famous for its Seafood Restaurant, where you will enjoy dinner. But before dinner, stop at Bukit Malawati at the highest point in Kuala Selangor, and admire the fort that monitored ships along the Strait of Malacca and Selangor River. The area is home to some cheeky Silver Leaf Monkeys, which are more friendly and tame compared to the monkeys at Batu Caves. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant to allow where you can try local food. Choose from a aariety of favorite Malaysian food such as Bariani Rice, Roti Canai, Kaya Toast Bread, and Fried Noodle. Finally, drive to Kampung Belimbing Fireflies Park. What people are saying about Kuala Selangor

I was able to take the best photos. The guide who took the picture with the sky mirror prepared various props, supported the Eiffel Tower where we were about to fall, was chased by dinosaurs, and many other interesting pictures. I was very happy to be able to take a picture. My son was crazy about catching hermit crabs and crabs (laughs), but I also enjoyed the fact that the tour driver and guide was very knowledgeable and taught me various things along the way. The seafood lunch was also delicious!

It was a beautiful Exprerience we got to see monkeys and feed them and the fireflies look just like lighting up a Christmas tree!

Unique experience seeing hundreds of fireflies lighting up trees in a synchronized fashion.

Really nice trip! Would recommend it to everyone who‘s the first time in KL

Tour Guide was informative, funny and polite. Grateful to have him.
