1. Lajatico: Theater of Silence to Pietracassia Guided Hike
The Theater of Silence is a unique venue. It is a natural amphitheater that has seen international artists of the caliber of Laura Pausini, Roberto Bolle, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and others take the stage and, of course, Andrea Bocelli the main creator of the initiative who returns to his hometown of Lajatico every year for a concert. For the, rest of the year the Theater goes back to sleep remaining silent. A Great Hike that has the pace of a real walk, through postcard landscapes of barren countryside bordered by farms, where ochre colors mix with the cobalt of the sky giving wide views all the way to Volterra and beyond. We will make our way through small country roads where we can observe and converse , always alert for a possible encounter with a mammal or the flight of a bird of prey. As the view becomes more and more 'panoramic, we will enter a typical mixed forest of Oaks and Holm oaks where agricultural civilization gives way to that of lumberjacks, the realm of fallow deer, wild boars, jays, dormice, squirrels, buzzards and whitethroats. We will stop at the famous Rocca di Pietracassia, one of the most important Medieval monuments in the Province of Pisa, set in a limestone spur on the Sterza stream as a bastion between Valdera and Valdicecina, a mystical place. We will then retrace our steps to resume the path of rolling hills and vineyards, until we gain the high ground from which we overlook the Teatro del Silenzio that greets us with its mass.
