The Turquoise Sea of Hungary: Lake Balaton Private Tour

The Turquoise Sea of Hungary: Lake Balaton Private Tour

Arriving to the lake we take you to a spot which has one of the best panoramas at the lake. The city Balatonfüred was always beloved by artists and writers and for good reason; the pretty promenade and beautiful villas and mansions will very likely steal your heart.  Upon arrival, experience the beauty of the peninsula up close. Thanks to the special attributes of its landscape, its geological idiosyncrasies, its diverse flora and fauna, it was the first designated protected area in Hungary. Tihany is both a gorgeous peninsula on the lake, and the a lovely, quaint, historic village on the peninsula. At the top of the village, a church and a monastery were founded as early as nine centuries ago. We have an option here to visit the church and the exhibition about the history of the region and the Benedictine monastery, where they keep the oldest Hungarian written document (which is almost 1000 years old). At the end of the day, marvel at the beauty of the lake on a scenic, 10-minute ferry ride from the Tihany peninsula. After that you will be driven back to your hotel in Budapest.

Lake Balaton Day Trip

Budapest might be the most popular destination in Hungary but that doesn’t mean its countryside has nothing to offer. As the years go by, more and more travelers venture out of the Hungarian capital to explore vineyards, beautiful landscapes and great food. There is, luckily, one region where you will get all three and more: Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe. From Tuesday to Saturday you will also be able to visit the world famous Herend Porcelain Manufactory where some of the most beautiful pieces of porcelain is made this is also a great places to do some souvenir shopping. On our Balaton day trip you will get to discover the highlights of this region, taste its wines and maybe even have a dip in the lake while you’re there!

The lake is stunning and the little town of Tihany is lovely, even if we were a bit after the lavender season! The guide was great too! Really enjoyed the boat ride. The only downside of the trip was the train was very cramped and seemed a bit unnecessary as it didn’t show much of anything, just a pretty empty town. I would’ve rather had more time to explore or even swim as was promised on the description but there was never any opportunity to do that which was a bit of a let down!

This trip was amazing. Some of the reviews indicated that the train ride was not in English. This was not the case for us. Our guide spoke 4 languages! The weather is perfect. Everything was beautiful and everyone we met was friendly. If the weather is nice, I definitely recommend taking this full day trip. Note: we did not eat at the recommend restaurant, we found a small mart grabbed a few waters and ice cream.

Excellent, intelligent, informative, friendly, courteous, and fun loving guide! We had a great time despite a bit of rain. Got to see the beautiful lake and stopped at a waterfront cafe for coffee and a pastry. Walked along lake promenade stopping at local vendor stalls. Wonderful Hungarian lunch. Great and safe driver with a large, super comfortable car. BOOK THIS TOUR. YOU WONT REGRET IT!

That was a really nice, great tour! George our guide was great, very charming and funny!!! We would do this tour again and again, preferably with George!

Our guide was informative and a pleasure to spend time with. The car was a classic. Lake Balaton is beautiful. A highly recommended day out. Thank you
