Depart Puno and journey to the floating islands of the Uros people on Lake Titicaca. Get explanations from your guide about how these islands are created by the locals using bundles of dried totora reeds. Learn the history of the area and interact with the locals to hear more about their life out on the water. Then, cruise over to Taquile Island in the largest part of Lake Titicaca. Experience life on the lake up close and get some stunning views of the Andes Mountains as a bonus. Hear about the inhabitants of Taquile Island and how they descended from the Inca people to mostly work as farmers and weavers, and how they have inherited some distinct Inca traditions. Go for a medium-level hike on the island, known for its handwoven art and collective farms, and enjoy a lunch of local produce served in a local restaurant. Then, return to Puno city on the shore of the lake for the end of the tour services.

2. From La Paz: Titicaca, Copacabana, and Isla del Sol Day-Trip

Depart from La Paz on a fully guided day-trip that sails on Titicaca Lake and visits Copacabana and Yumani as well as Isla del Sol. Enjoy a tasty lunch and discover the famous Inca Steps and the Inca Fountain. Leave La Paz at around 7 am and after approximately 3 hours you will arrive at Tiquina, the narrowest part of the Lake Titicaca. Cross to the other side by boat and continue the trip on a 30-minute bus ride to the town of Copacabana. Once there, have lunch and then head towards the shore to catch a boat to the Isla del Sol, where you will see the Inca steps and the Inca fountain, also known as the youth fountain.  This Inca fountain represents the 3 pillars of the Aymara Culture, Ama Sua, Ama Llulla, and Ama Quella, which mean, you shall not steal, shall not lie, and shall not be lazy. Afterward, visit the town of Yumani and then start heading back to the port to catch the boat back to Copacabana. Once in Copacabana, explore the church, main square, and the crafts market. By 6 PM you will catch the bus back to La Paz, where you should arrive back in the city by 10 PM.

3. Lake Titicaca, Uros and Taquile Full-Day Tour

Enjoy a boat trip on Lake Titicaca and visit the floating islands of Uros. The inhabitants of the lake are referred to as the Water Tribe and have built their own islands with a local type of sugarcane. Their homes and boats are also made from this material. Day 1 Meet your driver at the bus terminal in Cusco in the evening and board your overnight bus to Puno. Day 2 After a night on the road, arrive in Puno in the morning. 5. Puno: 2 Day Visit to Uros, Amantani and Taquile

Depart from Puno on the first day of the tour and head to the floating islands of Uros and marvel at the stunning scenery all around. Next, enjoy a 3-hour motorboat journey to the Amantani island and see local families running down the hill to welcome you. Meet your designated host family and immerse yourself in their traditional culture and way of life. Enjoy a typical lunch with the family made from natural local products and participate in intercultural activities until dinner time. After dinner, watch a traditional show with your family before spending the night at their home. On day two of the tour start with an early breakfast with your host family. After an emotional goodbye, it's time to depart to Taquile Island a traditional Quechua speaking community, located at the heart of the Lake Titicaca. Admire the beautiful harbor of Taquile and then walk up along a narrow path to the center of the island. Along the walk, gaze upon the breathtaking natural landscapes including the nearby Bolivian mountain range. Once you arrive at the top of the hike, listen to your local guide share stories and anecdotes about traditional life on Taquile. Later on, enjoy some free time to wander around and explore then relax at a local restaurant for lunch. Finally, descend to the harbor and hop aboard the boat back to Puno.

6. From La Paz: Huayna Potosí 2-Day Climbing Trip

Day 1: La Paz - Paso Zongo - High Camp Drive for around 1.5 hours from La Paz to Paso Zongo, going up from 3,600 to 4,700 meters. Once at Paso Zongo, have lunch in one of the refuges before starting the 3 to 4-hour trek up to high camp. Walk up on a well-used path on rock to high camp, which sits on a rock buttress at the base of the glacier, at an altitude of 5150 meters. Get your gear ready for the early start the next morning. You will also have time to rest, eat dinner, and rehydrate. Turn in for an early night in the refugio. Day 2: High Camp - Summit - High camp - La Paz Get up early for a long day of adventure with 9-13 hours of climbing. Wrapped up warm, equipped for climbing, and with your crampons on, you’re ready to go.  Follow a trail on the glacier and conquer two steep sections. You will first encounter one at around 5,600 meters, called the Pala Chica. Here the trail goes through a small ice and snow wall (about 10 meters high). After this part, keep following the trail on the glacier up to 6,000 meters. From here you will see the summit (6,088 meters). Experience the thrill of climbing along the last section to the summit on an exposed ridge. At the summit, you will be able to see from Illimani (6,439 meters) in the south to Illampu (6,368 meters) in the north. After your photoshoot on top, head back down the same way to High Camp. Have a short rest and pack your gear. Then, head back down to base camp to meet your transportation for an approximately 1-hour drive back to La Paz. Get dropped back off at the original meeting point in La Paz.

8. Cusco: 2-Day Lake Titicaca Tour

Day 1: Cusco to Puno You will be picked up from your hotel at 6:30 AM before heading to the tourist bus station for Puno. During the trip, you will make different stops for different tourist centers. At 8:10 AM you will take a 35-minute tour of the Temple of Andahuaylillas Chapel Sixtina de America. Later on, you will explore the Archeological Complex of Raqchi, before sitting down for a buffet-style lunch. In the afternoon, you will visit the Step la Raya, before continuing to explore the Museum Litico de Pucapucara. Your day will end at 5:30 PM, at which point you will arrive in the city of Puno to rest in your hotel. Day 2: Puno Your second day will begin at 6:30 AM, at which point you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Port of Puno. You will then board your boat in Puno, departing for Taquile. You will then visit the Uros Islands, where you will participate in a cultural demonstration that allows you to discover the Uro way of life. At 11:00 AM, you will reach a secondary port on the island of Taquile, from where you will go up a gentle slope towards the main town. This walk lasts approximately 1 hour, and during the tour, your guide will let you discover many aspects of the local Taquile culture. At 1:00 PM you will break for lunch at a village restaurant, where it is recommended to try the quinoa soup and the fresh fried fish from the lake. Following lunch, your return to the main port of Taquile will begin. At approximately 5:00 PM you will arrive at the hotel lobby. At 9:00 PM you will transfer to the bus station, depart for Cusco at 10:00 PM and arrive at 5:00 AM the following morning. You can then take a taxi back to your hotel.

The excursion starts with a morning pick-up from the hotel to the main port in the city. Departing from Puno city, the boat stops in The Uros floating Islands, where the guide will explain the history, purpose, and the way to make floating islands. After the explanation you will have free time to walk along the island or just interact with the locals. Continuing with the trip the boat will head to Amantani Island where the local family will be waiting to take you to the house, Lunch will be prepared by the family using local products. In the afternoon the guide will take you to the top of the island to see one of the most amazing sunsets in Peru (optional), if not, just walk around the island enjoying the great views of Lake Titicaca. Enjoy a visit to the ruins of Tiwanaku and Lake Titicaca in a single day accompanied by a local guide. Start with pickup from your hotel in La Paz at 8:00 AM to go to the town of Tiwanaku, where mysterious ruins of the Inca Empire are located. Ich war von diesem Tour sehr gut überrascht. Super Organisation und Erklärungen vom Guides. Ich war ein bisschen skeptisch weil ich viele Kommentare darüber gelesen habe, dass es sehr turistisch geworden ist und nicht mehr so autentisch. Ich muss zustimmen aber es gibt ein Grund warum es so ist. Das war eine der interessantesten Erlebnisse für mich in Peru und wurde jedem empfehlen. Mir geht´s nicht darum ob sich die Einwohnern für die Turisten bekleiden, sondern wie sie dort leben und diese schwimmende Inseln bauen. Und ein Tip.. die Armbänder die man in Taquile zu verkaufen findet gibt es wirklich nur dort. Ich dachte es gäbe noch in Cuzco, aber gar nicht. Und die sind wirklich die schönste und autentischste. Schade, hätte ich das vorher gewusst.
