Full description
Walk up Le Morne Brabant mountain, one of Mauritius' most popular attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage Site led by a certified climber as your guide on this small-group tour. Meet your guide at Le Morne Kitesurfing Beach for a safety briefing before you head to the entrance of the mountain. The first section of the hike will be through the luscious rainforest. Make sure to keep an eye out for the phenomenal and rare endemic birds, and plants. Watch the golden sunrise and listen to the birds chirp as you climb up the mountain's four rock-scrambling sections. Along the way, your guide will tell you historical stories about Mauritius' past, and the significance of this important mountain. Pause at the famous Trochetia Boutoniona viewpoint, named after the island's national flower, for some healthy snacks. Take a moment to admire the breathtaking panoramic views surrounding you. Next, arrive at the 470-meter-high summit and try not to let your jaw drop too low as you see the intense beauty and nature Mauritius is so famous for. Snap a few well-deserved photos before heading back down the mountain.

Amazing experience, which we highly recommend. We did the afternoon hike, which was perfect for us. The activity is divided into 2 sections - 1) "normal" steep walk 2) climbing section. Our guide Kevin was great, very well experienced and you could tell how much he loves hiking/climbing mountains. He knows the best and safest ways to the top. Important: the climb is not easy (it really is free climbing without safety equipment) and you should bring a certain fitness level. Also, if it rains more than a few drops, you cannot go all the way to the top - so be prepared for this possibility. Safety first. Kevin explains everything very well and makes you feel safe at all times during the climb. We would definitely not have climbed up the second section without him. We would definitely book again, it was one of the best experiences we've had during our time in Mauritius.

Climbing Le Morne Brabant for Sunrise with Kevin has been a great experience. He's a great guide and beside the amazing climb he gives you a lot of background-information about the mountain and the island. Also the time was fantastic - our small group has been completely alone on the way up and the top - the other groups all climbed up when we went back. I could highly recommend this tour.

We left at 5am in the dark. After about an hour it got lighter and the climb got steeper. Kevin always gave us good tips and instructions so that we were able to master the climb, which was difficult at times. Kevin is very nice and in between he told us history and described plants. Once at the top, Kevin takes the time for photos and fulfills every wish. It was definitely worth getting up early to see the beautiful sunrise.
