As a singer in the Leipzig of the golden 20s, Lola knows a lot about the "big business in the evening" - after all, Leipzig had 46 brothels and 220 relevant massage salons at that time. But Pauline is also aware of the wishes of merchants and trade fair guests for a successful trading day. She watches the small sins in the city (also fashion sins of celebrities) very closely and catches many a gossip under her mighty hat. In the days of Helma, the executioner's wife, Leipzig was a stronghold of drunkenness, gluttony and above all fornication at night. She was very close to the action and today she openly talks about the unbelievable.

Secret Passages and Alleyways of Leipzig's Old Town

8. Secret Passages and Alleyways of Leipzig's Old Town

Discover over 800 years of the history of Leipzig on this tour of the compact old town. The mercantile houses and passageways are as typical of the city's trading heritage as the traditional Saxon coffeehouses. The back courtyards and alleys round the market were the city's first "shopping center." Leipzig shows the whole world in a nutshell, as the famous poet Goethe put it. The passageways, constructed with the cloth-merchants' houses, were perfect for horse drawn carriages, which could pass through the town without having to turn. On your walk you will be shown large and small, old and new, well-known and hardly-used alleyways and back streets. New buildings, such as the Marktgalerie and the Brühl-Höfe, are continuing this architectural tradition. Don't miss the opportunity to get a taste of Leipzig's particular flair, on this informative tour.

You know Leipzig from different stays? Some of our group thought so too... But wrong! We took part in this event with a super guide. We received entertaining historical and architectural insights into corners of downtown Leipzig that even participants who already knew Leipzig quite well had never seen. Our guide was really great - you could really tell that he had a lot of fun showing these sides/corners of Leipzig! Of course, this fun spread to the entire group.

Highly recommended, whether you are a tourist or a resident of Leipzig. Our Mr. Bremme told exciting anecdotes from historic Leipzig without flooding us with boring dates. I too (although I've lived here for 10 years) was able to discover interesting new things in the alleys, passages and courtyards of Leipzig's city centre.

We walked around Leipzig learning about the story of the food and the places we were walking by. I loved the stories the guide told us and the food we had. Also ITs an amazing price for what you get :)

He did a very good job, told us some very nice stories about what it must have been like back in the day.
