Cinque Terre: Private Day Trip from Florence with Lunch

6. Cinque Terre: Private Day Trip from Florence with Lunch

Discover one of Italy’s most amazing destinations, the unforgettable Ligurian Coast of Cinque Terre, UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy scenic views of the 5 ingeniously constructed fishing villages on this private tour from Florence, accompanied by your own guide/sommelier. Cinque Terre was proclaimed as Italy's first national park in 1999. It is the smallest but also the densest national park in Italy. Between the villages, you will enjoy scenic train rides along the Ligurian coastline. A relaxing boat ride is also included between 2 of the villages so you can witness the stunning views of the Cinque Terre from the water. Wander the narrow streets, admire the colorful houses, or take the chance to swim in the turquoise water. Cinque Terre's rocky landscape has been tamed by winemakers who carved and cultivated the steep terraces facing the sea. It remains Italy's most difficult area to cultivate, due to unfriendly environmental conditions. Despite this, the area produces high-quality wines that reflect the traits of the territory: the salty whiff of minerality served as a reminder of the terraced vineyards on the Ligurian coast. Its wines are equally stunning: refreshing like a dip in the sea and scented like its exotic flora. Apart from sightseeing, this tour is centered around wine and food traditional to the area and distinct in its nature. Enjoy a multi-course lunch paired with the aromatic, mineral wine of Cinque Terre in a restaurant overlooking the Ligurian sea. Dive into traditional food and local specialties like focaccia, seafood dishes, and pasta with pesto, a sauce whose birthplace is the Ligurian region. Discover a paradise on the Italian Riviera where houses are suspended on steep cliffs and the crystal clear waters of the Ligurian Sea invite you in for a swim!

Livorno Shore Excursion to Portovenere & Cinque Terre

9. Livorno Shore Excursion to Portovenere & Cinque Terre

Meet your private driver/guide beside your ship at 08:00 AM for the 1.5-hour drive to the delightful fishing village of Portovenere, with its tall and colorful waterfront houses. Enjoy memorable sea views from the promontory where the Church of San Pietro stands. Its Gothic Genovese style dates back to 1256-1277. The church was built on the remains of an early Christian church and Byzantine abbey with parts of a heathen temple from the Roman age. At the foot of the promontory, there is a small grotto named after Lord Byron who took refuge here. From Portovenere, you'll begin your adventure through the five lands of the Cinque Terre, a landscape so unique that in 1998 it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A great way to discover this area is from the sea. You'll have the option of departing from the harbor to enjoy a ferry ride (additional cost) to Vernazza, a great stop for lunch at a restaurant set on the cliffs, looking out across the bay (lunch at own expense). The ferry journey will take you past Riomaggiore and Manarola with great photo opportunities from the sea.  Meet up with your driver and visit either Corniglia set up on the hill or enjoy a stroll around Riomaggiore or Manarola. You could continue on to the larger and busier town of Monterosso, but please note it is not possible to stop at all the villages in one day and for this tour, it is best to keep the day as flexible as possible and see where your journey will take you. At some places, you may wish to consider using the train and if the weather and sea conditions are good, the local ferry will be recommended. Wherever your journey takes you, you will return with wonderful memories to your ship in the port of Livorno at approximately 05:00 PM.

Amazing trip in a private vehicle that was perfect for our family with kids aged 10 and 13. We were picked up on time with some great information all along the trip about the history and sights. We had a fantastic lunch where we had a reservation placed for us and a wonderful visit to Pisa on the return. I would highly recommend families consider this option vs doing it yourself. Really good value for money and the owner of the company was the guide which was a nice touch.

The 1/2 day hike from Manarola to Corniglia was amazing. Andrea the guide was wonderful .. He was informative and interesting and gave an in-depth history of the region .. what’s grown there as well as how the people lived their lives over the centuries. His love of nature will enhance your hiking experience. This was truly a memorable hike thanks to Andrea!’

It was a great experience to have lunch with Danniela and her husband. She explained to us how the regional recipes are made. We could watch in the kitchen and eat together at the table. Nice experience!

I gave the experience to my mom and she was very happy, she found herself very well both with the guys who took her on the boat ride and with regard to the aperitif, all perfect, thank you!
