This was the highlight of our time in Lima! The Barranco area is so beautiful. Our guide was really fun and knowledgeable, and the food was amazing! Such a great taste of Peru, it hit all the must-trys. We had ceviche, lomo saltado, fresh fruits, coffee, chocolate, Inca Cola, Pisco Sour (of course), gelato (try the local flavors!), empanadas, and more! Perfect way to spend an afternoon and share an experience with other travellers.

It was a fun tour, where you are offered local dishes at a number of locations. There is also something told about the dishes and history, eg the chocolate and coffee special store where products from local farmers are used. A visit to the market was interesting to taste some very regional fruits. Demonstrating the preparation of the ceviche, pisco sour and lomo saltado is also relaxing and educational. We had a good English speaking guide with Desiree.

Ximena was a wonderful guide! She provided a lot of historical and cultural insights during the food tour. Both the stories and the food/drinks were great!! I especially liked the Pisco Sour at the end of the tour. It was a perfect balance of sweet and citrus. Most of the restaurants we have tried pisco sours (on our own) have been very sweet. This one was perfect. Overall, a great experience!
