Victoria Falls: Night Game Drive and 3-Course Bush Dinner

1. Victoria Falls: Night Game Drive and 3-Course Bush Dinner

Game viewing at night by spotlight offers a whole new experience in Victoria Falls that most tourists don’t get to see. Your journey begins with being picked up from your hotel at around 4:00 PM. You’ll be taken to a private reserve located approximately 7 miles from the center of town, here you will enjoy a late afternoon game drive until sunset. Meander in an open, well-kitted 4X4 vehicle through a changing landscape of scenic basalt plains, to the Kalahari sands, and teak forests of the Nakavango Private Game Reserve. Your experienced and knowledgeable guide will share fascinating facts about the African bush, along with their experiences of living here. At sunset, you will stopover at a splendid vantage point to enjoy some drinks and snacks, stretch your legs and chat about the afternoon’s adventures with fellow travelers. At dusk, the spotlight comes out to give you the opportunity of seeing what happens at night in the African bush. The guided safari will take you through the natural African bush where you might spot species such as lions, rhinos, elephants, buffalos, leopards, jackals, hyenas, civets, servals, genets, night apes, honey badgers and more. This is the time to observe active predators and their constantly alert prey. If you are very lucky you might spot a lion on the prowl under the cover of darkness.  After approximately 1.5 hours, depending on the time of year, your guide will bring you back to a traditional open-air enclosure for a lovely dinner under the stars. The 3-course BBQ meal is complemented by wine, cold beer and light refreshments. Relish the atmosphere as you listen to wildlife calls and see the animals come to drink at the waterhole nearby. It’s one of the finest experiences, sitting outside under the star-studded African night sky, relaxing around an open fire with a delicious meal, a couple of drinks and good company. Your driver will drop you back to your hotel once the group is ready at around 10:00 PM.

Victoria Falls: Cultural Tour with High Tea

2. Victoria Falls: Cultural Tour with High Tea

In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel to be taken to Victoria Falls for a guided walking tour. Get ready to witness the remarkable power of nature, a spectacle you will remember for life. The walk of the falls will take around 2 hours after which you will go to Lookout Café. It is perched 120 meters above the turbulent rapids of the Zambezi River. Here, you have the option to have a light lunch from the menu while you relax and take in the amazing views. Remember to save space for your high tea.  After lunch, discover the bridge and learn about its construction while seeing the high flying activities that happen there. From the bridge, progress on a short tour of Victoria Falls Hotel, the oldest hotel in the land, which holds the history of the resort town. Relax and enjoy the hotel's famous high tea on Stanley’s Terrace, with spectacular views of the Victoria Falls Bridge. From the hotel, go to see the big tree which is over 1000 years old, this is where the pioneers in Victoria Falls spent their nights in the early years. Lastly, visit the township to see how the local people live, and learn about the local customs. This will also give you the opportunity to see the craft markets where you can browse through a selection of handcrafts made by Zimbabwean artists.

What people are saying about Livingstone

This was a great game drive and a fabulous dinner. But full disclosure: it is not really a night time game drive. We were picked up at 3:15pm, and so most of the game viewing was in the late afternoon before sunset. That said, we saw cape buffalo and elephants (2 of the Big 5), zebra, crocodile, Impala, and bush bucks. At the end, as we were leaving the park (around 6:30), we encountered a herd of elephant feeding alongside the road, including one baby and two youngsters! So close! Aaron was a wonderful guide. After we left the park, while driving to the dinner site, Aaron used the spotlight to see if we could see game in the dark. We saw an Impala, but that was all. The dinner location was lovely, with a nice fire pit and pretty settings. Aaron's wife made a delicious meal for us. And Aaron used a great laser pointer to point out constellations in the night sky. It was magical! Even though it really wasn't a night drive, it was a terrific experience and I'd highly recommend it.

Picked up at the hotel on time by Aaron and taken to Zambezi national park for the game drive. He was very friendly and knowledgable and taught us a lot. He got us as close as possible to all the animals. Without disturbing them. We were able to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras etc etc…. We were then taken for a bush dinner by candle light and fire pit. The food was excellent. Aaron also spent time stargazing with us pointing out different constellation’s. He then sat and spoke with us whilst we had a nice relaxing drink. I would 100% recommend this trip and Aaron as a person and guide. If we ever return to Victoria falls this will be first on the list again! Thanks from David and Vicky

Simon was an excellent guide. All the transport from Zambia and back was on time. The Falls were great and the walk through the Rain forest was lovely and Simon was very knowledgeable about the plants animals and insects. The cultural tour was very interesting and informative and made us realise how lucky we were. The High Tea at the Victoria Falls Hotel rounded off a really great day. We loved it.

Everything was just right, the organization and the goals
