Embark on a magical and unforgettable journey through the Upper Mustang on a 19-day trek which will push your physical endurance but is intensely rewarding. Travel through arid and haunting wilderness amongst wind eroded hills and cliffs on the way to the borders of the Tibetan Plateau. Discover how the region, until relatively recent times, was a Kingdom within Nepal with its own monarch, hidden from the outside world until the early 90s. The area was first opened to tourists in 1992 and only then with strict limits on the number of people allowed to travel there. Follow the Gandaki Valley trail with occasional detours above the valley walls. Settlements along the trail are scattered with little sign of cultivation between villages. Finally, arrive in Lo Manthang, the mystical capital of Upper Mustang filled with a rich history and cultural heritage. Explore the maze of gompas (religious shrines) and houses that surround the king's palace.  Itinerary Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (TIA) International Airport (1,365 m). Transfer to your hotel, then, enjoy an evening welcome dinner. Stay overnight at the hotel.  Day 2: Spend a free day in Kathmandu preparing for the trek. Stay overnight at the hotel.  Day 3:  Drive for 5 hours from Kathmandu to Pokhara Valley (910 m). Stay overnight at the hotel. Day 4: Fly for 20 minutes from Pokhara to Jomsom. Walk for 3-4 hours to Kagbeni (2,858m). Stay overnight in a guest house. Day 5:  Trek for 5-6 hours from Kagbeni to Chaile (3050 m). Stay overnight in a guest house. Day 6:  Trek for 6-7 hours from Chaile to Syangboche (3,800 m). Stay overnight in a guest house. 2. From Kathmandu: 15-Day Upper Mustang Trek

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. You can rest and relax or explore the vibrant city of Kathmandu on your own. Day 2: Fly to Pokhara and drive to Kagbani (2804m) Today, you will take a scenic flight to Pokhara and then drive to Jomsom, which is the starting point of the trek. From Jomsom, you will drive to Kagbeni, a small village on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River. Day 3: Trek to Chele (3,050m) You will start the trek from Kagbeni and trek along the Kali Gandaki River towards the village of Tangbe. From Tangbe, the trail climbs up to a ridge and descends to the village of Chele. Day 4: Trek to Syangboche (3,800m) Today's trek is relatively steep and challenging, as you climb up to the Taklam La Pass (3,624m) and descend to the village of Samar. From Samar, you will trek to the village of Syangboche, where you can enjoy stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Day 5: Trek to Ghami (3,520m) The trail today takes you through several traditional Mustangi villages, including Chungsi and Ghiling, before reaching the village of Ghami. Day 6: Trek to Tsarang (3,560m) Today's trek takes you through barren landscapes, deep gorges, and high mountain passes, before reaching the village of Tsarang, which is known for its ancient monasteries and palace. Day 7: Trek to Lo Manthang (3,840m) Today, you will reach the highlight of the trek, the ancient walled city of Lo Manthang. You will trek along a high plateau, which offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Day 8: Explore Lo Manthang and its surroundings You will spend today exploring the ancient city of Lo Manthang, which is home to several ancient monasteries, palaces, and chortens. You can also visit the Chhosser cave monastery, which is one of the most significant Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the Mustang region. Day 9: Trek back to Ghami After spending some time in Lo Manthang, you will trek back to the village of Ghami, following a different route. Day 10: Trek to Samar (3,660m) You will trek back through the villages of Tsarang, Ghiling, and Chungsi, before reaching the village of Samar. Day 11: Trek to Kagbeni Today's trek takes you back to Kagbeni, where you can explore the village and visit the ancient Kag Chode Thupten Samphel Ling Monastery. Day 12: Trek to Jomsom You will trek back to Jomsom, which marks the end of the Upper Mustang Trek. Day 13: Fly back to Pokhara You will take a morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara and spend the rest of the day exploring the lakeside city of Pokhara. Day 14: Fly or drive back to Kathmandu You will either take a flight or drive back to Kathmandu, depending on your preference. Day 15: Departure from Kathmandu Your memorable Upper Mustang Trek comes to an end today as you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
