Buckingham Palace: The Royal Mews Entrance Ticket

9. Buckingham Palace: The Royal Mews Entrance Ticket

The Royal Mews is an important branch of the Lord Chamberlain's Office and provides road transport for The King and members of the Royal Family by both horse-drawn carriage and motor car. It is also one of the finest working stables still in existence, responsible for the training of the Windsor Greys and Cleveland Bays, the horses that pull the royal carriages. Among the historic coaches and carriages on display is the spectacular new Diamond Jubilee State Coach, which conveyed Queen Elizabeth II on the State Opening of Parliament on 4 June 2014. What's more, cast your eye over the luxurious Australian State Coach, with central heating and electric windows, which carried Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace after the Royal Wedding in 2011. The most dazzling of all is the Gold State Coach, which has been used at every coronation since that of George IV in 1821.  Among the vehicles on display, you can also find the Irish State Coach, purchased by Queen Victoria in 1852. Queen Victoria, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II have all travelled to the State Opening of Parliament in this carriage.  During your visit to the Royal Mews, relish the opportunity to see some of The Kings horses that draw the coaches and carriages housed in the Mews. Visitors to the Royal Mews can also see some of the fine livery worn by The Queen’s coachmen. Apart from a few small details, it remains much the same as it was in Victorian times.  Remarkably, some of the tailors used for production of liveries today are the same companies employed during the reign of George III in the 18th century.

London: The Changing of the Guard Experience

10. London: The Changing of the Guard Experience

The changing of the guards is definitely something that should be experienced when visiting London. On this tour, your guide will explain to you how the changing of the guard, also known as "Guard Mounting", has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in London. You will see how the soldiers in place are “relieved” of their position in a very particular way, while accompanied by a military fanfare. The soldiers have protected the King or Queen of England since the reign of Henry VII, who established the Royal Body Guard as a permanent institution. The tradition has since continued for more than 500 years. All of the guards are dressed in a traditional red tunic partnered with an easily recognizable bearskin helmet. The music that accompanies the changing of the guard can be either military or more contemporary, an attraction that is not to be missed.

I had an excellent time doing this walking tour! I’m very glad I booked this with See your City. Ivan was our tour guide and he was very creative and fun and kept the whole group engage with his stories. Despite the horrific history in Whitechapel, he was very respectful towards all the places we’ve seen and uplifted the dignity of those victims, instead of romanticizing the gruesome murders in a form of creative but sensitive storytelling. Kudos to Ivan for also keeping us safe all throughout the tour!

The Ripper-Vision was cool, and our guide was excellent. I'm not that into this topic, personally, but I am into history and details on Victorian life, and I got enough of that to be happy, which was nice.

The Shard is a brilliant experience you can see the whole city. I would recommend going early before the viewing platform gets busy so you get plenty of time to briwse

It was really cool and unforgettable, I suggest going on days that aren't raining because with rain the glass fogs up and you don't see much.

Really well spaced out. Great interactive museum for all ages.
