Full description

Depart London in the early morning and be one of the first visitors of the day to Stonehenge. As you arrive at Stonehenge your guide will tell you the facts and theories behind this most famous of Stone Age structures. Was it a temple, a clock, a place of worship, or a burial site for the elite? Then it’s on to Bath, which has seen visitors since the time of the Celts. Centuries later, in the 1st century A.D. the Romans arrived, calling this place Aqua Sulis. Even later, during the Georgian Era of the 18th century, the rich and wealthy arrived from London to see and be seen and took to the waters to rid themselves of joint stiffness and gout. Stop for a break in the delightful village of Lacock. Seemingly untouched by modern times, this charming place has been used as a setting in many films, including Cranford, Moll Flanders, Pride and Prejudice, and Harry Potter. Enjoy a guided tour of this lovely village before you make your way to Avebury, a pretty village of thatched cottages nestling in the middle of a huge stone circle. After a guided walk in Avebury, depart for your return journey to London.

This was an amazing tour! We close this tour because it included Avebury. Our guide, Rob, was awesome. Our driver, Badger, was awesome too! They both know the countryside well and their expertise sure enhanced the tour. We had a nice sized group of 8. We highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic!

Both Jose and Badger (yes his name was Badger), provided us with such a memorable day. Because of the small group size and smaller vehicle, we were able to travel on back roads where even our guide had never been as he has typically done the larger yours (thank you Badger!). There was so much packed in one day, but I wouldn't have crossed off any of the experiences, especially Avebury, which most tours don't travel to. My 9 and 13 year old were able to frolic with sheep and their lambs around the stone circles there. My only disappointment was not having enough time in Lacock to see the Abbey. Next time, I guess!

Our tour was phenomenal because of the type (small)of tour and our guide. We liked that we got to Stonehenge just as it opened before massive crowds surrounded the area. Our guide Tony was outstanding. He was engaging,knowledgeable and humorous. I learned quite a bit about each place we visited. Int’lFriends .org was great. I saw Tony help out “stranded” tourists that were not picked up by their tour bus and he coordinated with the other guide to drive them to the hotel we were already going to in order to pick up more tourists for our particular tour. Now that’s taking care of your customers.
