From Bath: Cotswolds Private Day Tour with Pickup

3. From Bath: Cotswolds Private Day Tour with Pickup

The day begins in Castle Combe, which is surely one of the most photographed villages in all of England. Little has changed here since the 15th century - no street lights or TV aerials. This mediaeval gem is famous for its picturesque cottages and babbling brook. Nestled in a wooded Cotswold valley, Castle Combe has been a favourite Hollywood filming location over the years for movies including War Horse, Stardust and Doctor Dolittle. Thereafter, your journey continues on towards Tetbury, which is the home town of The King and Queen Camilla and neighbours their Highgrove Estate. Discover more about its fascinating history as a market town, famous in the past for the local wool and yarn industry. Walk down the Chipping Steps, an old entrance to the town and admire the picturesque weaver’s cottages. The centre of Tetbury is a conservation area and many buildings are hundreds of years old. Why not pop in to buy a souvenir from His Majesty's Highgrove Shop. Enjoy a leisurely lunch at a charming country inn, where you can sample local dishes or maybe treat yourself to a decadent cream tea. The tour continues through the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty towards the idyllic twin villages of Upper & Lower Slaughter. Lower Slaughter was named the prettiest village in England in 2021 and it’s easy to see why. A location trapped in time, where wonderful photo opportunities await you amongst flower-draped cottages, romantic footbridges, and an idyllic water mill nestling on the banks of the River Eye. Maybe wander between Lower and Upper Slaughter (weather dependent). This tranquil corner of the Cotswolds countryside is like walking through a painting. Enjoy a photo stop at the famous village of Bibury on the journey back to Bath. Here, on the banks of the River Coln, you will stroll along Arlington Row, one of England's very oldest, continually inhabited streets. You will either be dropped off at your accommodation or in the centre of Bath. This will definitely be a day to remember.

What people are saying about Lower Slaughter

What an absolutely amazing, enjoyable experience. My tour guide, Valentina and driver Paul were so warm and welcoming and extremely knowledgeable! Enough time was allowed to enjoy each location as well as freshen up and grab a coffee or lunch. We enjoyed every minute of our trip in their luxury mini bus and were so sad when it ended! Highly recommended.

We had an absolutely marvellous day in the Cotswolds. Our tour guide Ian was great and told us lots of interesting facts and anecdotes along the way. Our fellow travellers from the US and France also made the trip enjoyable. We highly recommend this tour. Best regards from two Norwegians from Bergen

Jay with Kingdom Tours was fantastic. One of our favorite days on our trip. Burford, Bibury and Bourton on the Water were everything we hoped. I highly recommend this tour to those who want to see a quaint side of England outside of London.

The group is small so you get to know others. Ian, the tour guide is fantastic! His historical knowledge is great & the colorful tidbits he shares make the villages so interesting. I highly recommend the tour with Ian as your guide.
