This may have been my favorite thing to do in Italy! The path was clear (make sure you have enough power for your phone) and it ran along the river and through 2 small towns before getting to Pisa. Make sure everything on your bike is working before you get too far from the shop.

Great service from the shop just by the Lucca Station, fabulous route to and from pisa, electric bikes made the trip fabulous, bike carrier and pannier mean everything was stowed. Great bikes with massive range Still loads left at the end of the day, thoroughly recommended for a full day out

This is a great activity. Plan on at least 2 hours and plan to ride through fields and on some busy streets, but mostly country roads and by the river. I suggest you not have a timed ticket for climbing the tower in Pisa at the end of your ride so you can leisurely ride, adding stops along the way. The train is an easy transfer back as long as your train has a bike load car with room for your bikes. I suggest climbing Pisa first thing in the morning, then driving to Luca and riding the Luca wall on bikes from this same bike rental shop. They are conveniently located next to an entrance to the tree lined Luca wall.
