Ana was the best guide we have ever had (and we have had many).

Ana picked us up at out hotel on time and we had a pleasant walk to the Prado. The visit to the museum exceeded the expectations for me and my wife. Ana's expertise in art and history was impressive but not overwhelming. The time flew by as we conversed for hours. Unlike many guides, the conversation was not one sided and the give and take was truly educational. At no point did we feel like Ana was on a clock or forcing us to move too quickly through the museum. We are still talking about our experience. Highly recommend!

Art Historian Marta from “Mad Snail Travels” is just FABULOUS!

What an incredible experience to have someone so passionate and articulate sharing her knowledge with us like Marta did. The Joy of Art is alive and thriving in Marta- thankfully she shares it readily through her tours at the Prado. During our 3.+ hours with Marta we learned about the history of the leaders influencing Spain; both good and bad. We learned how that environment came to shape the different artists as they celebrated or grieved through their experiences. Marta helped us understand how incorporating science and math into their work helped them develop perspective and create more realistic linear visual images but then subsequent artists broke all those rules (EL Greco!) and painted from their passion or love or despair- what agony! Marta’ also shared how the history of the times and each artists experiences developed and progressed their work, continually challenging them in mediums and colors. She encouraged us to ask why they did each work the way they did.

Highly recommend especially if your time is limited

Our tour guide was Marta, and she was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She met us at our apartment and educated us about Madrid's history as we walked to the museum. We have seen the most important works of arts in about 3 hours and learned the history of their creators as well as the history of Madrid's royals that collected the art and patronized the artists. Despite the massive amount of information delivered, Marta kept things very light and kept us engaged throughout the whole time.
