Full description

Sleep beneath the desert stars at a Berber campsite on an unforgettable dunes experience from Marrakech. Visit UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou, the Valley of the Roses, and Tinghir. Stop at traditional Berber villages around the Todra Gorge and trek with a camel through the Erg Chebbi dunes, the highest in Morocco

Day 1: Marrakech - Tinghir

Your shared 3-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga will start early in the morning. Head to Ait Benhaddou through the Tizi Ntichka pass and the high Atlas Mountains. Make many stops along the way. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, which also served as a set for various Hollywood blockbusters. Continue to Ouarzazate and Kasbah Taourirte before lunch. In the afternoon, drive to Tinghir via the Valley of the Roses before you reach your hotel located in Tinghir. Dinner and overnight.

 Day 2: Tinghir – Merzouga

After breakfast at your hotel in Tinghir, your journey will start today with a drive along the road of 1001 Kasbah to the Oasis of Tinghir, where you will deviate to a minor road driving along the river to Todra canyons

After some time at leisure to enjoy the immensity of the huge cliffs, and lunch at a local café (at your leisure), continue early in the afternoon to Erfoud, famous for its date market, and a starting point of the ancient trading caravans crossing the Sahara desert to Tombouctou.

Continue to Merzouga driving through some rocky desert landscape. Upon arrival at the edge of Erg Chebbi dunes, meet your camel caravan, and ride your camels through the amazing color-changing dunes with the sunset on the horizon as a backdrop. Reach your Sahara Desert camp, nestled in the middle of nowhere just before darkness.

After some time to admire the dunes and the surrounding landscapes, get ready for a Moroccan dinner served under the stars next to a campfire. Late at night, enjoy Berber music with the local hosts playing drums

Day 3: Merzouga – Marrakech

After an early breakfast and a camel ride back to the main road, meet your driver and head back to Marrakech. Enjoy lunch on the road as you pass the Valley of Roses, and continue through the high atlas mountains to Marrakech. Finish your desert tour in Marrakech around 8 PM.

This excursion was a great experience! Icham our driver was great with us, and helped us contact our Riad for the return. The camel ride, the encounters, the Moroccan music by the fire, the little village in the mountains, the making of carpets, the valley of roses, it was just incredible! I recommend warm clothes for the night in the desert! For the food, the breakfasts and dinner were good, on the other hand the lunches were not incredible, we ate where the guide took us, we should have gone to the village (Ait Ben haddou) and found something something else. But otherwise for the rest nothing to say. It is an experience that I recommend to everyone. The return trip is a bit long (about 10 hours), but with memories full of memories and a ton of photos, you can't see the time passing! The road is nice to look at, I recommend that you sit in front to fully enjoy it ;) Théo and Laura

My tour guide saved me! Laar Bi went above and beyond for me. I got food poisoning (don’t eat the sausage pizza in Ait Ben Haddou). But not only did he drive me a pharmacy, he did all the talking to get me medicine, cleaned up my mess when I physically wasn’t able to, and even changed his hotel room to be next to mine so I could bang on the wall if I needed anything through the night. This man did more than this job requires and I am forever grateful! That aside the tour was amazing. We packed so much into 3 days, it felt like a week long trip. Definitely one of the highlights of my month in Morocco. (not the food poisoning.) would highly recommend. Thank you again!

The tour was incredible. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, our bus driver Laarbi was very accommodating and did his best to help me when I lost my headphones in the camp. The food at the camp was so good and I had an amazing time with Zaid a local who spent the full night with talking with us. The only thing that let the tour down was the food stops along the way, we felt like cattle forced into the same restaurant as all the other tours with limited food options and bland food. Overall great experience
