The Warnow has an uncomplicated trail, with a length of 3.6 nautical miles and a depth of 14.5 meters. The harbor itself can accommodate ships up to 300 meters length, 45 meters wide and 13 meters draft. With approximately 750 hectares, Rostock is one of the largest Baltic Sea-ports in Germany, and an internationally important transshipment point for piece goods. The harbor was also important for the shipment of coal, grains, cement or fertilizers, oil.
