Full description

Head out to San Sebastián de Palmitas, just 45 minutes from Medellín, to begin your unique coffee tour. After hotel pick-up, set off for a coffee-making farm and enjoy listening to a brief history about the origin of the coffee and how it was first brought to Colombia.

Take the chance to dress in the typical costume of the paisa muleteer, including hat, poncho, paruma, and the tail of a rooster. Later, move on to a coffee plantation to carry out the coffee harvest, reducing the mixture to a pulp and finally, drying it. After these activities, sit down for a refreshing drink of musilago (coffee juice) and a tea made from the coffee pulp. Savor a typical dish from the region made of banana with honey and cheese.

Hear your guide explain some techniques on how to prepare and drink coffee and have a short tasting of different coffees and servings. Later, try a typical dish of the paisa muleteer consisting of rice, yuca, ground beef, boiled egg, sausage, and banana.

Try preparing your coffee to your own taste with the information you have just learned from your guide. Finally, receive a pack of coffee as a gift and have the chance to buy farm products at the shop. If the option is chosen, also experience a 2-hour horseback ride through the farm to some viewpoints. All instructions will be given to inexperienced riders.

I have a few bone to pick but overall this was my FAVORITE part of my trip to Medellin. That's probably because I had to work for it a bit. I was unaware that we were going to have to climb a mud and rock path up the side of a mountain (I'd have worn my shoes meant for that). I'm a big guy so I had to huff and puff my way up but I got there. Boy oh boy am I glad I did because the views were AMAZING. Then the food was AMAZING, plus I'm aware that I only got a small dose of what it was like to be a coffee farmer but I came out with a new respect for the people who do/did that for a living because it's hard. Apparently there are no roads, people just go up and down the mountain anytime they need to leave. I'm going to dock them on the value because it costs the same as the Guatape tour but you get a lot more on that tour. Plus there was some confusion with transportation but we got there. Ultimately as the guide said, your favorite is the one you remember. I'll NEVER forget this

My girlfriend and I enjoyed the tour very much. Very informative about the process of making different types of coffee and how to recognize good quality coffee. The tour is bilingual, Don Carlos, the owner of the farm did the English part and he is a very cheerful and amicable person, taking his time to explain things and making sure we understood everything. The Spanish part was done by a girl, my girlfriend was attending that part as she is from Colombia. She was very amicable and funny and explained everything very well too. Me and my girlfriend were the only people in the group that did the additional horse ride, I've never ridden a horse in my life but Don Carlos made sure to explain everything and his employee helped me throughout the horse tour. Overall it was a great experience and we would really like to do it again when we return to Medellín in the future.

All the information you wish you would have always known! A must do, believe me. So many things I was unaware that I needed and wanted to know. Quite a fun and interactive experience. Coffee was excellent, staff friendly and knowledgeable. Don’t leave without it! Wear shoes to get dirty!
