Full description
Learn all about Pablo Escobar's life on a 4-hour guided, private tour in Medellín including three main stops: Inflexion Memorial Park, La Catedral jail, and a cable car ride to enjoy a panoramic view of the West side of the city for unforgettable photo opportunities. Hear interesting anecdotes as a knowledgeable guide presents Pablo Escobar's history on a sightseeing tour of the most famous locations linked to the drug lord, and how he affected Medellín and Colombia as a whole. Start your tour by visiting the Inflexion Memorial Park, built in 2019 on top of the lot of the old Monaco Building, a former property of the drug lord, to commemorate the 46,612 victims who were killed during his rule. Take a moment to walk through the moving space while your guide tells you facts of that time. Next, make your way to La Catedral, a personal prison Pablo Escobar built for himself — and where he spent five years — on top of a hill overlooking the city. It is said that he could choose who guarded him, and that the prison was built more to keep his enemies out than to keep him in. Drive on to visit the cemetery where Pablo Escobar is buried, as well as the neighborhood in which he spent his teenage years, and the house where he died. End your tour with a spectacular panoramic view of the West side of the city on a cable car ride before being dropped back off at your hotel.

Andres was an exceptional tour guide. We had a private tour. He was punctual, knowledgeable, funny and kind. The tour was interesting and definitely worth it if you’re in town for a few days. We ride to the top of this mountain to visit the prison that Escobar built for himself. The views you there are spectacular. The memorial put a lot into perspective as well. We enjoyed the tour. I highly recommend Andres and go private! You save so much time.

This tour was great. Carlos really went out of his way to ensure we had a great experience. He was very knowledgeable about the history, and he answered all the questions we had as well! He even offered to take pictures for us when we were visiting the beautiful sites. I enjoyed this tour very much & I’m going to recommend this one to anyone who would like a tour to learn about Pablo’s impact to Medellín and Colombia itself!

I really enjoyed seeing some of the sites involved in Pablo Escobar’s reign of terror. The memorial was particularly touching. It is incredible how much pro-Escobar sentiment there is in Colombia. We did not visit La Catedral, and I was upset about that. We visited his gravesite, where a friend of Escobar’s brother was giving out information. We also visited the neighborhood he built. The tour itself, outside of the memorial, did feel a little pro-Escobar, and that was a bit concerning to me. The guide and the people we met were insistent that Escobar killed himself, but his autopsy proves that was impossible. I liked that the guide talked about the real sides of Medellin, but everything just felt kind of off.
