Budapest: Kings and Dracula Tour with Vajdahunyad Castle

1. Budapest: Kings and Dracula Tour with Vajdahunyad Castle

Meet your English-speaking tour guide at the impressive Heroes' Square, the largest square in Budapest. Visit the Millennium Monument, commemorating 1000 years of Hungarian history. In front of the monument you will find the grave of the unknown soldier, and on the two sides of the square you will see the Arts Hall and the Fine Arts Museum. Next, head to City Park, the oldest public park in the world. Walk over a bridge to reach an island on the lake, home to the romantic Vajdahunyad Castle. In the inner courtyard of the castle you will discover some interesting public statues including that of Anonymus, the first history writer of Hungary. All around the courtyard there are copies of buildings representing different periods and styles of Hungarian architecture. You will also hear the scariest story of the tour, and see a statue of Dracula as well as the copy of the Transylvanian castle tower where the real Dracula (Vlad Dracul the Impaler) was born. The end of the tour is optional. You can finish the tour right there at the castle, or you can continue on your own to visit the nearby House of the Music, Budapest's newest attraction. An other option can be to walk back with your tour guide to the nearest metro station. It is just 5 minutes walk next to the main building of the famous Szechenyi Baths, the largest thermal bath of Europe. After the tour you can enter the baths to try their magic effect, or you can take the subway from the station next to the baths to return directly to the city center.

We enjoyed very much our tour with Dalia, she is an extremely nice person and an excellent tour guide, passionate about her job, proud of her country, very knowledgeable, and her interest stimulates her visitors. She guided us so well around Heroes Square, at last we got to understand and appreciate the beautiful statues, she guided us around beautiful Vajdahunyad Castle and fascinated us with the stories. Thank you Dalia for a wonderful tour.

Great experience! Private tour of a very nice neighborhood. We necessarily had to select English but in the end when she found out that we were French she gave us the whole visit in our language with a very good vocabulary! Thank you very much to this super guide, adorable as well. We were a couple and recommend for history buffs.
