Bogotá: Monserrate, La Candelaria and City Walking Tour

1. Bogotá: Monserrate, La Candelaria and City Walking Tour

Dive into Bogotá’s diversity by joining a city tour. Start your day by meeting your local guide at your hotel. Proceed first towards the viewpoints of Monserrate. Here you’ll take the cable car up the mountain to enjoy the most amazing and breathtaking views of this city: the whole length of the valley from the best vantage point. After making your way back down La Candelaria, you will walk its cobblestoned streets, surrounded by colonial architecture to the spectacular Gold Museum. Learn about the region's ancestors through their remains of metalwork made before the arrival of the Spanish. Your guide will retell the transition from indigenous to Spanish colonization at the foundational square of Chorro de Quevedo. Taste some chicha, an ancestral corn-based fermented drink nearby, in addition to some juices and snacks. Visit Simón Bolívar Square and learn how politics and conflict relate to each other and its current challenges with a peace agreement already signed. Then, make your way to the Botero Museum and see some of the greatest works of Colombian modern painter, Fernando Botero. After a fulfilling day, finish by tasting a cup of Colombian coffee, at a place where local and friendly baristas will teach you the basics about one of Colombia's most famous exports. Choose for yourself the duration of the tour. It can be for 7 hours with Monserrate, Gold Museum and Botero Museum, or 5 hours with either Monserrate or museums.

Gio was an awesome and very knowledgeable guide. I went on a Wednesday which was great in terms of avoiding crowds. For the 7H option, it was a fully comprehensive tour covering all the highlights and great if you don’t have too much time in Bogota. Gio knows his stuff and being on a private tour by myself made for a great personal experience. He made sure to stop at all the important intervals and explained all the fascinating history and background in detail which I appreciated. Apart from seeing all the great sights - the fruit, chocolate, chicha, coffee etc tasting was great. I’m a bit of a coffee snob and especially loved the cafe we stopped at for the coffee tasting. Such an awesome tour! Would recommend!

Tour was excellent and very well organized. We eventually saw all the places, and the guide adjusted as necessary to both protests, and a surprise federal holiday announced. They even continued the tour for us the next morning to see the places inaccessible during the original tour. I was most impressed by the way they worked with us and our schedule to make everything right (which was NOT their fault). Especially in Latin America, it’s rare to find that extra mile, and these guys did it.

This was a great tour. Nataly was a fantastic guide and very knowledgeable of all aspects of Bogota and Columbia. I learned a lot and enjoyed the tour.

La experiencia que tuvimos con este tour va a ser inolvidable, ya que nos mostraron de lo más lindo de Bogota y más por la increíble guía.

A very good informative tour with excellent guide Gerhard Perez
