Ephesus Full-Day Sightseeing Tour From Marmaris

2. Ephesus Full-Day Sightseeing Tour From Marmaris

Explore the legendary remains of Ephesus on this full-day sightseeing tour from Marmaris, including round-trip transfers from your hotel. Start your journey through history at the House of the Virgin. It is recorded that St. John brought the Virgin Mary to Ephesus after the death of Christ, and that she spent her last days in the small house on Mount Bulbuldagi (Koressos). Now a popular pilgrim site for Christians and Muslims, the house has received the official sanction of the Vatican. Next, explore the striking ruins of Ephesus. One of the most breathtaking sites is the remains of the Odeon Theatre, a semi-circular structure with a capacity for up to 1,400 spectators. See the Pollio Fountain, decorated with stunning works of ancient Roman art and statues carved into marble slabs. Go to the Gate of Heracles and admire the reliefs of Heracles built into the gate tower, and the second level reliefs of Heracles wrapped in a Nemea lion skin. Along the way, you will stop at the Temple of Hadrian and Ephesus Library. Completed by the Romans in 117AD, the Library is perhaps the most awe-inspiring façade still standing, with columns, statues and windows towering above you.

Bodrum City Tour: 5-Hour Private Excursion with Lunch

3. Bodrum City Tour: 5-Hour Private Excursion with Lunch

Begin your ancient Bodrum tour at Crusader Castle, which is the first structure that most visitors see, whether approaching from land or sea. The castle now houses Turkey's Museum of Underwater Archeology, which holds treasures that have been excavated from Turkish waters. During the 5-hour private tour you’ll see St. Peter's Castle, the Myndos Gate, the Roman Amphitheater, and many more relics of Bodrum's ancient past. The Museum of Underwater Archaeology is home to the world's oldest known shipwrecks. See the Glass Wreck Hall, late Bronze Age shipwrecks, the Carian Princess Hall, and the amphoras, which were used for transporting and storing olive oil and wine. Next you’ll visit the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. The mausoleum was built in 355 B.C. by Artemisia, the sister and wife of King Mausolos. See the historical windmills standing near the Bodrum harbor. The windmills are made of stone and lined with wooden planks, and were in use from the 18th century until the 1970s. Stop at the Myndos Gate, built by King Mausolus in the 4th century. This is the only surviving gate of the 2 original entrances to ancient Halicarnassus. The last site on your tour is the Ancient Theater of Halicarnassus, which dates to the 4th century B.C. If you’re interested, you’ll have time for some shopping before heading back.

Great tour. Unfortunately only English speaking guide, although booked in German. 2/3 of the guests in the bus were Russians. Therefore, there was a second tour guide who has everything explained in Russian. In the bus a bit exhausting. In the tour through Ephesus but then no problem, as the Russian group ran separately. Breakfast and lunch were okay.

Nice crew.

People really did their best to make you happy. Food and drink was abundant. Unfortunately, not everything that was stated in the confirmation was due to the low number of participants. The sails were not used and the trip to the hot water cave was not discussed. In general we have experienced the trip as pleasant.

the boat is not new but the staff is very kind and always available

food could be improved (albeit abundant). Turkish cuisine offers a lot and above all it is excellent. It doesn't make much sense to offer chicken pasta and cutlet on a boat trip.
