Full description
Spend a beautiful day at the emerald waters of Königssee in the Berchtesgaden Alps of Bavaria. Departing Munich, you will drive along the most scenic German Alpine road into the marvelous valley of Berchtesgaden. Arrive at Königssee and take a boat ride to the peninsula. As you cruise, listen out for the mysterious echo of Königssee, created by the proximity of the sheer rock walls. You will also see the historic Eagle`s Nest viewpoint, a teahouse that was offered to Hitler on his 50th birthday. Look out too for the so-called Sleeping Witch silhouettes in the mountains. Back on dry land, visit the chapel of St. Bartholoma, dating from 1134 and located at the foot of Germany’s second highest mountain, the 8,900-foot (2,700-meter) high Watzmann. Walk to the final station at Salet, where a footpath leads to Lake Obersee. Enjoy the marvelous views of Germany´s highest waterfall at Röthbachfall. Return to Munich for a hotel drop-off. The entire length of this journey into a serene wilderness is 8-10 hours.

The trip was amazing! The lakes were absolutely beautiful and Mario really took good care of us. It was much more laid back and personal than a large bus tour. Mario even bought my sons coat all the way back to the hotel after he left it in the van. Highly recommend!

We had a really good day with Armin as our driver who took us to the Königssee! We were picked up at the hotel in Munich at 8am and while driving for almost 2hrs to the lake we learned a bit about the surrounding areas… thanks to Armin! The Königssee is definitely a must see if you’re in the area. I would recommend it to anyone!

The tour basically includes the drive back and forth so that’s pricey for the cost. You have to pay for the boat tickets the day of the tour which the driver didn’t mention until we were almost home and it had to be in cash. I wish he said something earlier so we could have got to an ATM. Otherwise, the place is gorgeous and well worth the trip. I would suggest to the tour site to include the boat ticket price into the total tour so people are not caught off guard.
