From Khasab: Half-Day Mountain Safari to Jabel Harim

10. From Khasab: Half-Day Mountain Safari to Jabel Harim

Jebel Harim, which translates to "the mountain of women," is the highest peak in Musandam. The summit is home to a radar station, which monitors shipping way below in the Straits of Hormuz, and provides superb panoramic views back to Khasab and onwards toward Dibba. Many of rocks are studded with perserved fossils, offering a remarkable glimpse into ancient submarine creatures, including mollusks, fish, clams, and numerous trilobites. Drive up into the mountains from Khasab, making stops at viewpoints along the way. The village of Sayah, a picturesque hamlet still occupied by desert-dwelling Bedouin people, will be paid a visit as well. The settlement is famous for its ancient petrographs, 3,000-year-old paintings splattered on the rock face. En route, pass by a remarkable fossil wall, formed out of what was originally a chunk of sea bedrock and covered in a dense layer of fossilized impressions, among which the outlines of crabs, starfish, and shells can be clearly made out. Later on, drive up near the summit of Jebel Harim. Of course, the photo opportunities from these heights are spectacular; in particular the stunning Khawr Najid viewpoint provides an unmatched vista over the Indian Ocean.

What a day it was! The whole family loved the experience: pick-up from the hotel on time, the whole crew is super friendly and knowledgeable. We were not sure if we would see wild dolphins during the trip but we really didn’t had to worry. We saw them several times during our trip thanks to our dolphins whisperer. We took so many amazing videos with dolphin jumping, crossing each other. We had food and drinks the whole day along. We highly recommend this trip!!!

Everything went fine. Saw a lot of dolphins and had the opportunity to take good photos. The return trip on the boat was great because there were still various sights to see. The return trip to the hotel also went well

This your was amazing and I recommend it to anyone! the views are great, snorkeling was great and the food was great too. The guides were amazing, explained many things and made sure we had everything we needed!

Very nice and informative guide. We took all the time we want at each stop. Very good tour.

Everything was great except for the pick-up, since the pick-up point was inaccurate
