Barcelona: Montserrat Tour, Monastery & Optional Wine/Lunch

1. Barcelona: Montserrat Tour, Monastery & Optional Wine/Lunch

Experience an unforgettable guided group tour to Montserrat, Catalonia's most famous mountain range. Take in the beauty of its natural rolling landscape and discover the history and traditions of its medieval monastery. After your bus journey from Barcelona, board the cogwheel train up to the monastery and admire the beautiful nature and iconic multi-peaked mountain range of Montserrat. Once at the monastery, your guide will take you on a walking tour of the historical center of the complex.  Learn about the rich history of the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey, an 11th-century monastery that still functions to this day, with over 70 monks. Entry to the monastery is included in the tour price. Use the allotted free time to wander freely and visit the famous Black Madonna and see paintings by Picasso, El Greco, and Dali at the Montserrat Museum. During your free time, you can also ride the funicular train up the side of the mountain to get even better viewpoints of the monastery.  Travelers who booked the half-day tour option will return to Barcelona after the visit to Montserrat. If you chose a full-day tour option, you'll continue toward a beautiful boutique winery. Arrive at the winery and, depending on the food option you booked, enjoy a light tapas or multi-course lunch. Admire amazing views of the winery and Montserrat mountains as you feast on traditional foods of the region. After your meal, wander around the vineyards, learn about the wine-making process, and enjoy a wine tasting session, before traveling back to Barcelona.

Absolutely incredible! Gus with Get Your Guide was terrific. His knowledge of all aspects of the Montserrat was top notch. This tour was one of the best ever. The basilica at the monastery was inspiring as was the boy’s choir, who we were fortunate to hear / beautiful. So much to see there, could have stayed longer. Then on to the Oller de Mas winery with so much history and fabulous wine and nice lunch. Gus even gave the wine tour and lead the tasting session. He had great knowledge of the winery, the grapes and the wines selected This is a full day and worth it every minute. Great job Gus and to all at Get Your Guide!

Edu was a wonderful guide on the tour to Montserrat. . Very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the place, Helped us get tickets to the Boys Choir, which was most enjoyable and an experience. The bus was very clean and comfortable and the scenery was beautiful. The short train ride up was also good and scenic. We enjoyed the tour very much, and would recommend it to all who would like to visit Montserrat and the Basilica with the statue of the Black Madonna. Thank you Edu.

It was a wonderful experience learning about the culture and history of this beautiful place … Mariana is such an amazing guide, who made the history sound so interesting with all her little stories and jokes with it. Loved her !! Must try this tour if you are visiting Barcelona and are interested in learning the beautiful history of Monsterrat !! Don’t miss out the wine and tapas tasting, that comes with this tour … and Mariana’s knowledge of wines is just awesome …

Marcel was a great tour guide - enthusiastic, knowledgeable and funny! The tour itself was well paced and gives lets you see most of the sites in the area. I found that 1.5 hours wasn't enough to fully see everything, as the funicular wasn't covered in the price, and going up that could have easily been another 1 hour of exploration.

Great tour and exceptional guides who made the day very fun and informative. Thank you so much!
