Guide Santiago was wonderful. Other reviewers have talked about not going on the weekend due to the park being crowded. We had no choice due to scheduling. Big mistake. Thousands of people there. Due to crowds we could not drive to top parking lot close to crater. Instead we waited in line over an hour to park at lower lot then another hour and a half to crowd into the back of a pickup with 15 other people for a 30 min ride up to the top lot. This made it to where we didn’t have enough time to summit. Made it 500 verticals feet from top but had to turn back. Then waited another hour and a half to board a pickup and head back down. So not go on a weekend! Gave this 5 stars because it was not Santiago’s fault we booked on a weekend. Had it been during the week we would have definitely reached the summit.

My guide was Edgardo, he was excellent. He was hospitable, enthusiastic, and very adventurous. He was also very environmentally conscious as he picked up litter during our hike. You can tell he cares very much for the environment. I'm an avid hiker and wanted to go my own pace without the pressure of a group. Edgardo was a great partner for the hike, fun conversation, but also good comfortable silence for us both to quietly take in the sights. He also took me to a couple food stalls before the hike where he introduced me to ayote, a corn based hot drink, and an alcoholic orange juice with quail eggs that I don't remember the name of. If you're willing to pay for the private tour, I highly recommend.

Very well organized! We were small group of 6 people and 2 guides, I wasn't as physically prepared as the others. Anyway one of the guides fits a short version of the route for me so with less efforts I managed to climb the volcano, not to the pick but enough to be satisfied with the achievement and experience. Thank you, Rodrigo and Monserat for the professionalism and kind attitude!

Welcoming and very professional. As described, the volcano is sublime and the view from above is breathtaking. The trek is still quite sporty, dizzying and the last straight line is climbed, with your hands.

Awesome! Well worth it! Good and experienced guide with humor!
