Listen to an introduction to the history of the most Italian-style French city, starting with its Greek foundations, through its time as a dominion of Savoy to the modern day. Learn about the influence of the English and Russian aristocracy, discover how it got its name, and more. Then, enter the Old Town through a gate built during the reign of one of the last Italian governors. See the old houses of the local nobility, and marvel at baroque churches and monuments. Go to one of the most famous markets in Nice, and breathe in the aromas of the produce on sale. Explore a honeycomb of tiny streets, learning the history of each square, street name, and design. Next, ascend to the top of Castle Hill passing through some of the quietest areas of Vieux Nice. Walk through a forest to the old cemeteries with their panoramic views of the city and harbor. Admire the ruins of the old fortifications, and see the majestic waterfall on the Colline du Chateau. Tuck into a Provençal picnic in the castle gardens, and enjoy a platter of the best local food. Our tour started off a little rocky since our tour guide did not realize he had our appointment that morning. What started off shaky became a very nice day walking around with our guide Sam. He took his time, was not in a rush, and really explain the old town to us. His view was from a history and personal standpoint, since he actually lived inside the old town. My wife and i enjoyed the walking tour very much, and actually went back into the old town later that night to have dinner at a restaurant Sam recommended and have the specialty food of Nice.

This was the first tour i took of the city and it was worth it. I got to explore and become more familiar with the city that i was able to enjoy the rest of my trip, having learned my surroundings. My guide was very friendly and extremely knowledgable. The small tour environment was nice as he really was attentive. Show us where Matisse lived and other little information that was fun to learn. I also took the panoramic tour by this group using eletric bikes. Another tour definitely worth checking. I had to reschedule my tour time last minute to another date and they allowed me to change dates without any additional fee.

Salutations, Samuel! Merci beaucoup!
