Monet's Garden Bike Tour from Paris

1. Monet's Garden Bike Tour from Paris

Begin this full-day Monet bike tour with a scenic coach journey through the spectacular wheat and sunflower fields of Normandy. Speed by the lazy Seine River, and stop off at the village of Vernon. Here, you will visit the charming farmers' market to buy picnic supplies. Then, hop-on your bike and pedal across the river to a beautiful park along the banks of the Seine. After lunch, enjoy a relaxing 3-mile (5-kilometer) ride down bike paths to the village of Giverny. Cruise past Giverny Church and its cemetery, which contains graves of local citizens dating back to the 17th Century, as well as British soldiers from World War 2, and even Monet himself buried within his family's vault. Pass Hotel Baudy, where Impressionist painters Manet and Renoir used to paint. You will then arrive at the highlight of the day, Monet's Garden. Spend about 90 minutes exploring the gardens and house, including the famous water lily pond where some of his most famous works originated. Additionally, you can explore the village of Giverny, which boasts the American Museum of Art, located across the street from Monet's Gardens, as well as numerous cafés and small streets begging to be discovered.

I booked this excursion because my son (23) and I wanted a different experience, which it really was. Alex, our driver, picked us up at our hotel, explained the route we would take today and off we went. From the start we saw smiley faces at the side of the road, with the two of us with the biggest smile on our face. We went to Arromanches, overlooked Gold- and Omaha beach at Port en Bessin, visited Omaha beach and the American cemetery. Alex explained the history, some anekdotal stories and made the trip personal and very informative. We are no ‘excursion people’ so was hesitant when booking but can really recommend this trip and experience. The trip is a great experience and shows you the Normandy side in a different way For my son and myself. Thanks Alex.

Funnest Day in France

I booked this tour initially because I like bike riding. Especially in other countries. My day was amazing. Directions to the meeting point were spot on. Dave our guide was incredible. He was very knowledgeable about Monet. He waited and held up the group for a lady on the tour that lost her hat. He helped everyone on the bus ride back find their connection to their hotel. The tour was wonderful. Beautiful picnic lunch along the Seine. Bike riding pretty much all flat to Monet's house. Giverny is a quaint little village and Monet's home and gardens were breath taking. There were tandom bikes for parents with smaller kids. Just so much fun to get out of all the tourist lines in Paris. Thanks Dave and Fat Tire Tours for a lovely day!

Lovely enchanting ride

I loved the experience of this tour. David our guide was wonderful and attentive. We rode in a nice big bus to the town of Vernon, where we shopped for a picnic at the farmer's market. We had a picnic and shared our food under some trees by a river. The ride itself was mostly on a new wide and smooth bike path. It was a wonderful way to see Monet's home and garden. I highly recommend this tour!

Amazing tour!

One of the best tours we’ve done! Seeing the beautiful gardens that inspired Monet’s “Water Lillies” paintings was amazing! Shopping in the open market for our picnic lunch was so much fun! Siting on the bank of the Seine enjoying a delicious lunch was thoroughly enjoyable. The bike ride through the town up to Monet’s home was scenic and serene. Highly recommend this tour!!!!

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

It is a real experience to be able to sniff the history! Although we did not like the weather gods, we were able to fully enjoy this adventure. Thomas is a very pleasant and attentive guide and driver. An absolute must!
