Journey from Negombo to see the elephants at the Millennium Elephant Foundation, stroll through the flowers at the Royal Botanical Gardens, and see the fascinating wonders in Kandy Town on this private tour. You will ride across the pristine waters of Kalpitiya lagoon towards the sand dunes and Salt Pans in a distance. The little fishing villages and local community living on the border of the Lagoon and the stretch between the lagoon and the mighty ocean will let you see the hard work the locals put in to earn their livelihood from the locally available natural resources. One can have a closer look at the diversity of Flora, Fauna, and birds’ endemic and common creatures to the area that make the Lagoon their habitat. Dinner & Overnight stay at Bar Reef Hotel Day 03 Following breakfast, commence the journey to the mysterious mountain range of Knuckles. On arrival, you will check-into Dumbanagala Chalet. Day 04 After a truly Sri Lankan yet personalized breakfast at the chalet, set out on foot and into the unspoiled hidden village paradise of Sri Lanka - Meemure. The population of Meemure is about 400 with roughly 100 families that is yet another society struggling to maintain their unique culture in the traditional way. Visiting this beautiful traditional village will not only be a community experience but also a rich biological experience of one of a kind. You will also enjoy an authentic Sri Lankan Village lunch from a Village house during this village tour. Dinner & Overnight stay at Dumbanagala Chalet. Day 05 Enjoy a late breakfast and check-out from your hotel in Knuckles & moved to your next destination – Anamaduwa. Check-into Mud House, a private and seductive retreat, far away from the beaten track! All locally guided excursions and activities will always be offered, including: picnic trips, temple visits, bird watching walks, nature trails, lake kayaking, local historical sights and cooking lessons for the duration of the stay free of charge. The imposing Kala Wewa and Balalu Wewa tanks, built in the 5 BC by King Dhatusena, adorns the 6,000 hectare Kalawewa National Park, alongside an impressive 45-foot Avukana Buddha statue. But the centerpieces of the park are the star residents of the sanctuary: the tusker elephants. Of the male elephant population, only about seven percent are tuskers. Kalawewa boasts of a high concentration of tuskers, a privilege to behold. In addition to the tuskers, large flocks of open-billed storks are a common sight. The park has a beautiful landscape lined with massive signature Kumbuk trees. Your accompanying guide will give you additional information about the tuskers. You will also catch sight of numerous birds and other animals which dwell in the sanctuary. Your guide will share interesting facts about the flora and fauna of the Kalawewa National Park. If you arrive during the monsoon period (October-November) the filled up tanks will attract gatherings of animals and birds alike, amidst the kumbuk trees and vegetation.

The waters of Sri Lanka are home to an incredible range of marine creatures from massive blue whales all the way through to tiny creatures. Sri Lanka has an abundance of great sites to discover including wreck dives, which are scattered off the coast where Local divers are still discovering new wrecks as they explore the waters of this island nation. Many of the wrecks are covered in marine life, soft corals, macro critters and large aggregations of schooling fish. Peak season: November - April
