Begin your highland tour of Haputale at the Dambatenne Tea Factory, built by the famous British tea producer Sir Thomas Lipton in the late 19th century. Explore the factory on a tour, learn all about the tea production process, and enjoy a hot cup of tea. Next, visit the viewpoint known as Lipton’s Seat, so named because Sir Thomas Lipton used to use it to survey his huge tea empire from the summit of Poonagala Hill.

On your way up, pass the Catherine’s Seat viewpoint and the Lemasthota Waterfalls. From the top, take in the views of Uva, Sabaragamuwa, and the central and eastern provinces. Experience the Benedictine Monastery of Adisham, a former Tudor mansion in the style of the Castle of Leeds in 1931 and named the Adisham Bungalow after the hometown of its first owner and builder.
