From Skjeggedal: Guided Winter Hike to Trolltunga

5. From Skjeggedal: Guided Winter Hike to Trolltunga

In wintertime, all hikes to Trolltunga start on P2 parking in Skjeggedal. Normally, it is necessary to walk with micro spikes or snowshoes a large part of the tour, that is why the hike during this season is more challenging. On the way up here, we stop by in our base camp and leave our backpacks here. Ahead of us is only the last short stretch to Trolltunga.   As the evening closes slowly in, we meet the last hikers going down. Once we reach Trolltunga, we are alone out there. A scary thought? Not at all. Because you know where you are staying tonight. You can look forward to a cup of hot chocolate, a warming fire and a delicious dinner. Yes, it is cold outside, and it is getting dark early. But once we are back in the domes, you can always curl up in your fluffy sleeping bag. After a long day out in nature, all is left is to relax and enjoy the spectacular night skies. Be aware that the weather during the Norwegian winter is unpredictable, it can change at any time. This is nature, it is pure and real up here! But do not worry, your guides are educated in reading the mountain conditions and has a lot of experience in this terrain. Your safety is our priority! That is why on the iciest days, we cannot guarantee that it will be safe to go down on the rock itself. We will make sure to show you alternative and equally beautiful photo spots and that you will feel like a true explorer after this overnight expedition.

Good organization, nice guides, up with the shuttle bus, unfortunately not back, we at 60 and 65 years did not find this 3.5 km serpentine road good at all and assumed that we would take the shuttle bus back. The tour to Trolltunga was super nice, adventurously interesting and was fun, great experiences and a mega experience sleeping in a huge tent with a view, we were well looked after, since we hardly speak English, some of our hiking group translated it for us. Back the tour was more strenuous, especially the last part of the route. We liked it and it was right to spend a night there on Trolltunga. We're also proud of the fact that almost all of us met young people. An experience that we will remember for a long time.

Awesome experience! The guides are super-helpful and have compensated for some of our own mistakes. They are extremely well educated and have explained a lot about the culture and the history of this place during the hike. Also you can feel that they are passionate outdoor guys themsleves who have made this hike an overwhelming experience. Also they were actually essential for making some of the more difficult parts of the track a safe journey. Thanks again Avin and Richard for your great work!

The hike was in Winter. It’s a very challenging hike. But it’s definitely worth it. I recommend an entire day of rest for the legs the whole day. The guide was very welcoming and helpful. They make sure you’re very well taken care of.

We had a lot of fun doing this hike and got really lucky with the weather. The view was so impressive. And having the snow mobil and sledge ride being part of the experience as well rounded it up nicely.

Under no circumstances should this tour be undertaken in winter without an experienced guide. We felt absolutely good and safe and took an unforgettable experience with us.
