Ostuni Private Tour

2. Ostuni Private Tour

Ostuni is one of the main tourist destinations of Puglia. Referred to as the "White City", it is famous for the houses painted with white lime in the historical center. Your guided tour of Ostuni will start from Libertà square, here, you will be able to witness the grand palace of the municipality and the baroque column of Sant'Oronzo. Almost 21-meters high, the column was built in local stone by Giuseppe Greco in 1771 as an ex voto, later it was used for protection from famines and epidemics carried out by the saint. In Libertà Square you will get to visit the archaeological excavations of the ancient walls and the defensive tower before taking a stroll down Cattedrale street. Notice the abundance of local craft shops, commercial activities and typical local food produce. You will then reach the cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta built in the fifteenth century. The façade is characterized by three elegant ogival portals and a large rose window of 24 rays. Marvel at the interior, a Latin cross with three naves on columns. Following the tour you will continue along the Aragonese walls where you can admire beautiful landscape views of the Valle d'Itria until you reach the Porta Nova gate, one of the ancient gates famous in this town.

Cisternino: 2-Hour Authentic Italian Village Tour

3. Cisternino: 2-Hour Authentic Italian Village Tour

Cisternino is well worth a visit for its classic example of spontaneous architecture. The old city of Cisternino is both amazing and unforgettable through its wonderful atmosphere, great views of the Itria Valley, cute old buildings and friendly people. During the tour, you’ll visit the Church of San Nicola, known as the Mother Church, which was built in the 12th century over the previous 8th century Basilian church, whose foundations remain. Then, visit the Norman-Svevian Tower built in the 11th century by the Normans at 17 meters tall. It was largely rebuilt in the late 14th century and was remodeled several times in subsequent periods. Stop at the beautiful view overlooking the entire Itria Valley, a wonderful skyline of the valley with trulli and olive trees. In the old town, visit the most important noble historic buildings walking in the narrow alleys and on the white/ black chianche, a typical limestone floor. This village has many good restaurants for evening dining, a choice of good cafes for snacks during the day and good local shops selling all the authentic local produce you could want. An area of great beauty, too perfect to be real but real with incredible trulli.

What people are saying about Ostuni

Our guide, Valeria, was phenomenal. She set a very comfortable pace for our tour and was well versed in Ostuni history, architecture and culture. Valeria was very articulate in English and answered our many questions gracefully. The tour was wonderful.

We had a very nice driver/guide for our tour. Stella told us a lot of exciting things about the city! Now we have a good overview for further exploration! But unfortunately it was not an environmentally friendly Ape - as described when booking!

It was amazing, well worth it, our guide was super knowledgeable and extremely pleasant answering every of the 10000 questions we had

Domenico, a great guide. He knows very well the city and its history. Excellent timing and very interesting tour.
