Brussels: Walking Tour from Central Station to Manneken Pis

3. Brussels: Walking Tour from Central Station to Manneken Pis

As capital of Belgium and of the European Union, Brussels offers the best of many worlds: from Gothic architecture to Art Nouveau, from historical places of interest like the Triumphal Arch in the Jubilee Park and the Palace of Justice to the Atomium, the icon of modernity, which was built to celebrate the Universal Exhibition Expo 58. The medieval town center is both trendy and traditional. Brussels is inviting with interesting contrasts, openness and a lot of vitality. Most impressive however, is the Grand Place with its Gothic Town Hall and gold leaf decorated facades of the guild houses. And of course, courtesy obliges you to pay a visit to Manneken Pis.

Brussels: Heart of Europe Full-Day Sightseeing Tour

4. Brussels: Heart of Europe Full-Day Sightseeing Tour

Brussels has grown from a 10th-Century fortress town, founded by a descendant of Charlemagne, into a major world metropolis of more than one million inhabitants. More than just the capital of Belgium, it is the center of the European Union and has a wealth of attractions to uncover. For this private 8-hour tour you will be met at your hotel and taken by minivan to visit all the major sights of the city. See the imposing 19th-Century Palace of Justice and the elaborate Cathedral of the city’s twin patrons, Saints Michael and Gudule. Take in the modern buildings of the EU district. Architecture buffs will know Brussels for its Art Nouveau architecture. Many were designed by Victor Horta and you will visit one of his finest creations, the former Waucquez Warehouse. Now home to the Comic Strip Museum, it has inspired larger-then-life comic strip murals all over the city. Look out for some of them as you drive. Your personal guide will point out sights and fill you in on the rich tapestry of the city’s local characters. You will visit royal palaces and sample local produce, such as the lambic Gueuze beer. You will pass parks, witness a thriving fashion scene and see the notoriously tiny Manneken Pis. After a 3-course lunch, you will continue on foot to wander through the historic city center. You will go to the Grand Place to see its beautiful guild house gables, wander past the imposing 19th-Century Stock Market, and visit the Kathelijneplein, or Place St Cathérine.

A very enjoyable tour given by a passionate and knowledgeable guide who was born and raised in Brussels. Using the bikes, which were of good quality and very well maintained, allowed us to see normal life happening in some of the different areas of the city and it was extremely refreshing to escape the over crowded tourist traps in the centre. The guide was also rather pleasing on the eye which added to the enjoyment of the experience Would definitely recommend taking this unique tour of Brussels!

Interesting, insightful and experienced tour with Philippe as our guide. Despite exploring the city for 3 days prior, we were taken to and told the history of areas that you may not visit otherwise. Gave an insiders view of the city within the backdrop of it's history. Phillippe left a lasting impression on us and was very amenable with our requests. The bikes were well maintained and easy to ride- even up hill! I would recommend this cycling tour as a must if you visit Brussels.

We were a group of 6 people and had a lot of fun! Our guide was great I highly recommend Brussels by bike! You get to know the city well in 3.5 hours and get a lot of information!

Our guide Michele was awesome! He gave us a great tour if the city, took us to places we might not have otherwise ventured to, and gave us a good bit of history.

Nice group. Good, experienced and entertaining guide. You saw an awful lot in that time. I can only recommend.
