2. Panama City: 1-Night San Blas Islands in Sea Huts

Spend a full day and night on the San Blas Islands: swim, kayak, and paddle out on the water and overnight in a bungalow on the beach. San Blas is an indigenous zone, so prepare for a rustic time. The busiest hours are from 9 AM to 11 AM and from 2 PM to 5 PM, so you will be able to see many ships getting lifted or lowered 16 meters in two distinct steps. Take in the views on the locks from a sheltered terrace and listen to the explanations of your guide. To complete your visit to the Canal, visit the Panama Canal Museum and Visitor Center to get a good idea of the construction of the canal, a masterpiece of engineering. Before the next stop, learn about the history of the canal and its significance for Panama and the entire world trade as well as on the current expansion project. Continue the tour to the Panamá Viejo, the ruins of Old Panama. Old Panama was the first European settlement and community on the Pacific Coast of the Americas. This first Panama City was looted and destroyed by the notorious English buccaneer Henry Morgan in 1671 and therefore was abandoned. Today, there are only ruins left of Old Panama. Still, the tower of the ancient cathedral is standing and has become a landmark of the town. Head to Amador Causeway next, a road that connects three Islands in the Pacific Ocean and offers unbeatable views of the canal on one side and of the city skyline on the other. Lunch will be served in a Panamanian restaurant on the causeway (cost not included). After lunch, the tour continues to the Casco Viejo, where you will feel set back in time as you admire and enjoy the view of the characteristic colonial houses, the narrow roads, and the awe-inspiring churches. Before drop-off back at your hotel or residence, get a better picture of Panama’s history by driving or walking through the main attractions of this historic quarter.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this 3-night island-hopping tour into the Guna Yala (San Blas) islands. We spent the first night on Narasgandub Island, the 2nd night on Aroma Island, and the 3rd night on Perro Chico Island, so a little bit different than the itinerary which is posted on the website, but overall it worked out very well as each island is so unique and has so much to offer. The first 2 nights we stayed in thatched huts, and the 3rd night in more of a rustic hotel-style room. The food was great and so were the included activities of hiking to the waterfall and snorkeling. You can get to San Blas on your own and try to figure it all out, but we liked having everything sorted out for us so that all we needed to do was show up and enjoy!

The 4-day island hopping was great and very well organized. The accommodations are very simple. There is fresh water for showering. Eat with rice and fish or chicken or bread and scrambled eggs. The islands are very small, but beautiful: palm trees, white sandy beaches, crystal clear, turquoise blue water. I can only recommend this trip, we enjoyed it very much.

This was a great tour of the city and our guide Tony was excellent. The tour covered many of the must sees of Panama City.

It was all amazing. From hotel pick-up to night and days on the island! Thank you all!

Very good tour, they offered us more than what was mentioned.
