Full description
Boasting an eclectic and ostentatious Baroque design, the Opera Garnier is one of the most extravagant representations of Second Empire architecture in France. Benefit from quick and easy access to this magnificent building in the center of Paris. Inaugurated in 1875 and named after its exciting young architect, Charles Garnier, it is the largest opera house in Europe. You will set eyes on the writhing snakes of the bronze “Pythonisse” sculpture, before climbing the double stairway of the “Grand Escalier” (Main Staircase). Imagine the swish of crinolines as you admire the breathtaking décor and stroll through vast foyers, filled with sparkling mosaics, colorful marble columns and gold-leaf flourishes. Everywhere you look will be a feast for the eyes. You will receive your digital ticket directly after your booking, just show it at the Opera visit entrance to enjoy your visit.

The Palais Garnier is an absolutely stunning building to visit and explore. Its breathtaking artwork and architecture made it a real highlight of our recent visit to Paris. Make sure you take out an audio guide to get the most out of the experience. The stories of the people who made the Palais Garnier a reality are fascinating as are the stories about the composers and famous characters, the Phantom of the Opera being one of them. Enjoy!

Go there as soon as they open at 10am so you will enjoy it without crowds. It’s small so you can finish the whole thing in less than an hour..but it’s so beautiful a must see! Also it’s better to be there early if you don’t want to wait in line forever. The guards don’t speak English so that’s a bit of a barrier.

The Opera house was very beautiful and there were signs with information. Unfortunately, they had some guides that you could download but, on a phone they were just too small to read. Also, there were only two doors open in a box to see the actual theater so this was quite crowded and presented problems. It would be better if there was an organized way to let people in to see the Auditorium.
