One of the most interesting and at times bizarre guided tours that I have ever been on. The tour is a melange of different things: a walk through the history of Paris during the last 300 years, the architectural styles of the monuments, the changing cultural norms of how we remember our dead, the events which happened in the cemetary itself, the famous people buried there, and stories of ordinary people who are interesting even though they are not famous. Also amazing to me was that you think a cemetary should be a sombre, grave place (if you pardon the pun), but many of the monuments are full of humour and levity. It's a fascinating place and a compelling tour.

The guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. He clearly knows the cemetery well and it would be extremely difficult to see the things that he showed us if you were on your own. I recommend this tour highly if you choose to go to the cemetery. It is huge!

I was one of two people on the tour, so it felt as if it was a private tour. The tour guide was fantastic - chock full of information and very personable. He really made the cemetery come alive, so to speak, with stories of its history and inhabitants. I loved the quiet ambience of the cemetery. While there are tourists, there were not a ton the day of my tour and they were all quiet and respectful as one would hope in a cemetery.
