Full description

The Museo Picasso Málaga was created in response to the artist's desire for his work to be exhibited in the city of his birth in 1881. Its realization is thanks to the combined efforts of the artist´s daughter-in-law and grandson, whose donations provide the body of the art collection, and Junta de Andalucía, who arranged an ambitious project devoted to the artist. Located in the Palacio de Buenavista, declared a National Monument in 1939, the Museo Picasso Málaga opened in the heart of Málaga in 2003. The building boasts a harmonic mix of Renaissance and Mudéjar elements and serene contemporary lines. Phoenician, Roman, and Arabic ruins can be found on the underground floor. This ticket provides access to the permanent collection or the temporary exhibition. The permanent collection contains examples of Picasso's revolutionary innovations. See paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, and graphic work, from his first academic studies to his personal Neoclassical perspective, from the overlapping forms of Cubism to his experiments in ceramics, and from his interpretation of the Old Masters to his last paintings of the 1970s. Purchase a combined ticket and you will also get access to the museum’s temporary exhibitions. The temporary exhibitions change on a regular basis.  Break for a snack in the garden Café of the Palacio de Buenavista, a perfect place to end your visit with an appetizer, lunch, or a drink in one of the nicest spots in Málaga.

The upcoming temporary exhibitions are :

Face to face. Picasso and the Old Masters. From April 1 to June 26 (except April 19). Paula Rego. From April 27 to August 21.

Loved the museum, went with my 8yr old daughter who behaved excellently, but although her behaviour is always really of a high standard I was told by security guard, female, to hold her hand even though we had been through the whole museum with her following me quietly and not making a sound. I was quite disappointed by this as it was my daughters suggestion we go there in the first place. How are kids supposed to learn when they are judged, even when she was exemplary ??? Then, said Security guard nodded towards the exit door to get me out in a hurry and told me that section was the end of the tour. I am still bewildered by it to be honest. Up to that point I was really enjoying it, with my daughter excited to tell her friends she had seen Picasso's paintings. Uncomfortable end to a promising beginning. I felt targeted for no reason at all and there were other children younger then my child but I didnt see her warning them and being rude , which I thought she was.

We had a very nice trip. Seville is definitely worth a visit. - Unfortunately, the time in the bus is very long, so that little time was left in Seville. Our tour guide Caesar guided us through the day in a very informative and relaxed manner. Thanks a lot for this!

Lovely building and staff were overall friendly unless you wanted to enter a forbidden exhibit without ticket (we were unaware of the exhibit additional costs), then they got nasty. Plenty of good information available in English at all paintings. Not the best of his work, and the Barcelona Picasso museum is much better. However, larger then expected and worth visiting.it would have been more pleasant if the coffee shop were open to take a brief stop and absorb what you saw before moving on in a line that they herd you through.
