Cortina & Dramatic Dolomites Full-Day Tour from Venice

1. Cortina & Dramatic Dolomites Full-Day Tour from Venice

Escape the crowds of Venice and take a day trip to the Dolomites, with stops at Cortina, Misurina Lake, and Auronzo Lake. See fabulous scenery and get plenty of opportunities to take epic photographs. Pass through tunnels with astonishing views of canyons and valleys, which appear as if from nowhere. The scenery in this region is quite simply some of the most breathtaking in Europe. Upon arrival in Cortina, nicknamed the “Pearl of the Dolomites,” you will have approximately 90 minutes free time to stroll around the town, and take in the picturesque views of the mountains. Weather permitting, you will also be able to take the cable car up to Faloria, which overlooks the town of Cortina from its lofty 7,000-foot high mountain perch. Continue your trip towards Lake Misurina, taking the toll road up to outstanding peaks of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. At 7,740 feet (2,360 meters), it will reward you with yet more unforgettable views of the Dolomites. Take time to stroll around and breathe in that fresh mountain air. Alternatively, break for an optional lunch, and admire the mountain peaks and spectacular backdrop of Sorapis, and Marmarole. After lunch, drive to picturesque Lake Auronzo, passing through enchanting mountain villages as you head back towards Venice, and your final drop-off point.

From Venice: Cortina and the Dolomites in One Day

2. From Venice: Cortina and the Dolomites in One Day

Don't miss a chance to see the Italian Dolomites, some of the most beautiful mountains in Europe. In just one day, travel from Venice to see the most famous towns and lakes in the area, including Pieve di Cadore, Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Cortina, Lake Misurina, and Lake Auronzo. Your first stop will be at Cortina d'Ampezzo, a beautiful town in an alpine valley of the Dolomites known for its winter sports and jetset crowd. Wander the thousand-year-old streets and have lunch in one of the town's excellent eateries or take the Cortina-Faloria cable car to fully appreciate the beauty of the Ampezzo Dolomites. Journey on to Lake Misurina, adjacent to the town of Cortina and a lovely place for a walk in the open air. Known as the pearl of the Dolomites, the lake is not only one of the most beautiful Italian lakes, but is also said to have therapeutic properties for those suffering from respiratory illnesses. A legend has it that the lake was a gift from the fairy of Mount Cristallo to the daughter of King Sorapiss, Misurina, who desired a magic mirror. The mirror (of water) was granted her on the one condition that the king would be turned into an imposing mountain, thus explaining the formation of the Sorapiss mountains which form a dramatic background to the lake. Next up is Tre Cime di Lavaredo, some of the most famous mountains in the Alps. Let your guide take you to a particularly well-situated terrace in the park from which it is possible to admire a panoramic view of the Dolomites. View the trenches dug into the mountain during the early days of the First World War, scars which are still visible today. Finally, stop at Santa Caterina Lake in the town of Auronzo. Relax by the artificial lake formed by the damming of the Ansiei River before returning to Venice.

It was a great day, with perfect weather! Our driver/guide, Miriam, was excellent, pointing out points of interest and giving information and history of the places we passed and stopped at. She took the time to show us things we would have missed, and made plenty of stops along the way for photo opportunities. Lunch was on your own at Lake Misurina, with several choices. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day with breathtaking views of the mountains, and a highlight of my trip to Italy.

Me and my friends really enjoyed the private trip because there were only us. Our driver and guide Simone was the best because he is knowledgeable and gave us really good recommendations where to eat and what to do. Trip was breathtaking because we stopped at the picturesque places. We really recommend to book this trip because it takes you to the best points in mountains. The minivan was comfortable and with air conditioner.

Had an amazing trip with our guide Simone (ask for him if you can, he's the best!) October turned out to be a great time to go to the Dolomites - weather permitting - with almost no traffic and crowds. We had time for plenty of stops in idyllic Lake Misurina, pastures, and towns with breathtaking views of the Dolomites.

I have an excellent trip and the Italian Guide is Simone who is a plus factor that makes this an excellent trip! I am so happy with this and it was really nice. Dolomites is worth to visit for! :)

Just a heavenly experience! Speechless!! Mountain lovers must go there.
