At your next stop, enter the church-convent of Saint Teresa of Jesus that was built by the Order of the Discalced Carmelites in the 17th century, supposedly in the same place where Saint Teresa of Avila was born. Following the visit to Avila, enjoy free time to have wine, beer, soft drinks, and an aperitif, or continue exploring the city on your own. Regroup at 2 PM to head to the city of Segovia. Begin your tour of Segovia with a visit to its main symbol, the Roman Aqueduct, as evidenced by its presence on the city's coat of arms. Check in at our office in central Madrid 15 minutes in advance of your tour. Leave the city towards Ávila aboard one of our air-conditioned coaches. Our first stop for the day will be at the city of Ávila, one of the best-preserved fortifications in Spain. If you have chosen the option to visit Segovia at your own pace, you will have approximately three hours of free time. The rest of the group will go to the restaurant. Those who have chosen the gastronomic menu will enjoy a gastronomic lunch with roast suckling pig that will not leave you indifferent. People who have not chosen the gastronomic lunch will have a typical courtesy tapa and a drink. After lunch, those who have chosen the tour with monuments will meet again with the guide to start the tour in Segovia. Walk through the old Jewish quarter of the city, visit the outside of the Cathedral and walk towards the Alcazar of Segovia. Starting from Madrid, we will head in the morning to Segovia, a small city that will surprise us from the moment we get off the bus. The walking tour will begin at the Aqueduct, one of the oldest monuments in Spain. With more than 16 kilometres long, it was built over 2.000 years ago. During the visit we will discover how it was built, in which no cement was used, as well as the route that the water took to reach Segovia. Knowing the history of the Aqueduct of Segovia, we will go up towards the Plaza Mayor. We will discover some of the city's monuments, such as the Casa de los Picos, whose façade has 617 granite peaks, or the Plaza Medina del Campo, where you will find the Church of San Martín, built in 1.117, and the Torreón de Lozoya, where you can go up in your free time and from where you will have a breathtaking view of Segovia. Once we arrive to the Plaza Mayor we will find different monuments that will impress us, such as the Town Hall, the Juan Bravo Theatre and the Cathedral of Segovia, where we will have a complete guided tour of its interior. It will be time to head towards the Alcázar of Segovia, one of the most famous and well preserved medieval castles in the world. Great tour. Very well organized. The sites were beautiful and views were gorgeous. Oscar is and Extremely knowledgeable guide. Only issue was that bus did not have cell phone charging ports. The phones died for a couple of people and they were not able to take pictures.
