Pompeii and Herculaneum: Private Tour with Transportation

1. Pompeii and Herculaneum: Private Tour with Transportation

This tour consists in a marvelous walk around of the ancient Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, buried from the ashes of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 A.D. On this tour you'll be able to see all the major highlights. A walk in Pompeii is a very intense experience; you'll have the feeling of wandering in a town that is still alive. Learn about the history of the town and how the Romans lived and see all the most important public buildings and private houses on a walking tour. Highlights include the Marina gate, the basilica, the forum, the forum baths, the lupanar (brothel), the bakery, the house of Faun, the Termopolium Capuano, the house of Tragic Poet and the plaster casts. Stop for lunch in a typical restaurant, winery or pizzeria. Then go to Herculaneum for another private guided tour. Herculaneum is much smaller but better preserved than Pompeii. While Pompeii was covered in four to five meters of ashes, a landslide of 20-meter deep mud buried Herculaneum.  Carbonized wooden objects, intact paintings and mosaics are still preserved and the city will come to life with a two-hour tour by your guide. Highlights include the Temple of the Augustali, the beach where more then 300 skeletons were found, the thermal baths, the forum, the house of Neptune and Amphitrite, the Samnite house, the gymnasium, the house of the Dears and much more.

What people are saying about Porta Marina, Pompeii, Italy

Great tour, wonderful guid and driver!!

This tour was expensive, but very worth it!! We would not have gotten as much out of the day if it weren't for Gabriella and her wealth of knowledge about both places. She was very pleasant, and made our day very enjoyable, our driver was wonderful too, I believe his name was Luca, but now unfortunately I am not 100 percent certain, he was very pleasant and safely got us from one place to the next.

Thank you very much!!!

Fantastic agency: flexible and precise organization. Our guide was punctual and proved to be competent and personable. With his experience as an archaeologist, he led us on a visit capable of bringing the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum to life! We hope to be able to reorganize another visit soon. Super recommended!

Our driver, Francesco, and the archeologist, Diego, who was our guide, were both fantastic: very polite and always on time, with an excellent sense of humour. I'll never forget our visit and the vivid as well as entertaining, at the same time scholarly descriptions of ancient culture. Thank you, Francesco and Diego!

We had the best time of our lives on this tour. It was simply breathtaking and we loved our driver Francesco Scarico he made our trip memorable and highly recommend him. We also went to Pompeii and had the best guide Jasmine she was wonderful and made our vacation unforgettable!!

Interesting! Laura the German speaking guide lives this job.

A must. Best with private transfer and guide in the language you know ...
