Full description
This 2.5-hour walking tour starts in front of the statue of Bishop António Ferreira Gomes, opposite the Clérigos Tower. Explore some of the most beautiful neighborhoods along the Douro River on this scenic riverside tour of Porto! Porto’s banks have seen the launch of the first expeditions into the Atlantic, which enabled the colonial expansion of Portugal and ensured economic prosperity for the city even in times of crisis. Porto’s explorers set up some of the earliest Portuguese trade routes and the city is also home to the first Portuguese Navy. Even with their sights set on lands far away, the people of Porto didn’t take their eyes off what they had at home. Known as the "unbeaten city", Porto fought back against any king, bishop or emperor (to name just a few) who tried to invade their shores. The Porto of today is famous for its scenic riverbanks and its delicious port wine – both of which are products of the resourcefulness, bravery and strength of this city. Just below the iconic Dom Luis I bridge lies Gaia which is littered with cellars where port wine is stored and aged. Learn how the area evolved into the most visited part of the riverbank. Join this tour to explore the neighborhoods on either side of the famous Dom Luis Bridge and discover why the entire city was given UNESCO World Heritage status in 1996! Listen to stories of discovery and victorious battles as you take in the magnificent atmosphere of this fascinating city.

Great; punctual, effective and totally recommendable.

We went to Porto with a group of 30 people and we hired a private guide to do a guided tour. In addition to always responding quickly, it was very easy to contact them, always adapting to our proposals and needs. The guide, Gonzalo, was a charm and made us fall in love with Porto. Great

We took the tour in English. Very interesting and friendly visit. I learned a lot and our guide (André) answered each of our questions with enthusiasm!
