We visit many a dramatic waterfall, including one that we have to walk behind as that is where the path goes! The trek is about 10 miles and is a six hour wander through ancient wooded valleys alongside a trio of rivers all with their own unique character and of course waterfalls a plenty :) Delve deeper into Wales’ natural landscapes than you would on a traditional tour on a hiking trip from Pontneddfechan that takes you to eight secluded waterfalls. Discover the highlights of South East Wales on this full-day trip from Cardiff. See sights such as the ancient Roman remains of Caerleon, the ruins of the Abbey of Tintern, the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons. Meet your guide in Central Cardiff and set out to your first stop, Caerleon Roman town. See the remains of the Roman amphitheatre, and the legionary barracks. Follow the Wye Gorge towards Tintern and stop briefly to visit Tintern Abbey, a sight made famous by painter JWM Turner. Continue up through the gorge and the spectacular Forest of Dean to Monmouth and Rockfield. Next, enter the Brecon Beacons National Park in the beautiful Black Mountains, visiting the hidden church of St.Issu. Stopping in the little market town of Crickhowell for lunch (not included). Escape the hustle and bustle of the capital with this day trip to the castles of Coch and Caerphilly. Ride through the lush landscapes of the Brecon Beacons National park, and have some free time to take in the charming town of Brecon at your own pace.  Meet your guide at the conveniently-located City United Reformed Church in the center of Cardiff which is easily reached by train, car, or on foot. Relax on the scenic drive in a comfortable bus.  Admire views of Cardiff Castle from the bus. View the unique mix of Gothic, Norman, and Roman architecture of this castle that was home to the Romans during their occupation of Wales. Stop at Castell Coch, which translates in Welsh as red castle. See for yourself why it is known as the ‘fairytale castle’ thanks to its tapered turrets and conical rooves. Although built in the 1870s, this charming castle has a medieval style, as it was built as a country retreat for the third Marquess of Bute, one of Britain’s richest men. Explore the inside and outside of Caerphilly Castle, Wales’ largest and Britain’s second largest castle (behind Windsor). This formidable, 13th-century fortress boasts an extensive ring of water defenses and huge gatehouses. Have some free time for refreshments in the town of Caerphilly before continuing the sightseeing tour. Take a drive through the Brecon Beacons, one of the 3 National Parks in Wales. Marvel at the rolling hills and mountains until you reach the town of Brecon. Discover this picturesque market town that is steeped in history and dates to Norman times.  Spend some free time visiting the 12th-century cathedral or walking through the narrow streets and browsing the eclectic range of shops. Brecon also marks the start of the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal, so a peaceful walk alongside this beautiful canal is also an option. End the tour with drop-off in central Cardiff.

Follow a local guide on a hiking route in the Brecon Beacons National Park. See the eight main waterfalls of the park as well as some smaller falls, and admire the scenic hills of the forest landscape. Day 1: Leave London and travel west to the rolling hills of the Cotswolds through England’s prettiest historic villages. Get the best photos and hear the most fascinating local tales. Travel through the Welsh Marches marked out by the ancient Offa’s Dyke. Head into the heart of the Cambrian Mountains and beautiful Elan Valley. Finally, head to the beautiful seaside town and cultural center of Aberystwyth, where you spend the next two nights. Day 2: Travel to the mountainous region of Snowdonia National Park. Visit the mountain village of Beddgelert to see the famous grave of Gelert, the legendary dog, or explore the nearby copper mine. Next, head to the town of Machynlleth to see the ancient clock tower and the quaint houses, and go antique hunting. Move on to Porthmadog and over the Cob causeway before reaching the impenetrable medieval Harlech Castle. After a fulfilling day, return to Aberystwyth in the late afternoon. Day 3: Travel around the coast of Cardigan Bay through Aberaeron to New Quay. Explore the picturesque harbor and get the chance to spot dolphins and whales. Head into the foreboding Black Mountains to explore a bedrock cave under a castle, before you visit Laugharne, where Dylan Thomas wrote the famous play Under Milk Wood. Move on to Tenby, a charming seaside town and your base for two nights. Day 4: See some of Britain’s most gorgeous coastlines at the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Travel to the tiny cathedral city of St Davids for lunch and exploration, and stop in the county town of Pembroke to enter the thick medieval walls of the castle. From here, return to Tenby for a relaxed evening. Day 5: Leaving Tenby in the morning, begin your return journey to London. Head past the industrial cities of South Wales to the outskirts of Cardiff, and visit the outdoor National History Museum. Take the Severn Bridge back into England, and take a break at Castle Combe, a Cotswold village perfect for a relaxed stroll amongst 16th-century ironstone cottages.

Day 1: Manchester to the border of Wales Depart from Manchester by coach for your first stop of the day, Conwy. Explore the town and its award-winning, picturesque harbor. View a castle perched by the sea, the "world’s smallest house", and traditional restaurants boasting the best fish and chips. Travel to the Llanberis Slate Museum, after you've soaked up the sea air, and learn about the history of the second largest slate mine in the world. Continue to Beddgelert, known as the "loveliest" village in Snowdonia. Admire the beautiful architecture of the stone houses and arched bridges. Travel through the heart of Snowdonia as the evening comes, arriving at your overnight stop in Aberystwyth. Day 2: Aberystwyth to New Quay Set off from Aberystwyth in the morning for the colorful seaside town of New Quay. Enjoy a relaxing stroll along the picturesque beach or grab an ice cream. Visit Laugharne, and stand in awe before this village’s towering castle. Carry on towards Carreg Cennen, an imposing fortress perched on top of a hill, nestled within the Brecon Beacons National Park. Roam across the ramparts and experience stunning views of the surrounding natural landscape. Make your way to Newton House, a palatial building that boasts rich gardens, unique architecture, and famous ghost stories, before returning to Aberystwyth later on that evening. Day 3: Harlech Castle and Chester Watch Snowdonia’s mountains fly by as you make your way to Harlech Castle, one of the most popular castles to see in the whole of the UK. Take the chance to witness the sea views and learn about its war-torn history. Stop for lunch in the little village of Betws-Y-Coed before journeying to one of England’s most historic towns, Chester. Head to the cathedral, rebuilt in the Gothic style from 1250 onward. Arrive back in Manchester in the early evening.

Then, travel to the beautiful town of Shrewsbury to check in to your accommodation for the next 2 nights. Day 2: Today, you will head into the heart of North Wales and visit the picture book castle of Conwy, built by Edward I in the late 13th century. Marvel at the mountain scenery of Snowdonia National Park, including the huge Dinorwic slate quarries and the dramatic Pass of Llanberis in the shadows of the highest mountain peak in Wales. Hear tales of Owain Glyndwr and the Welsh struggles for independence before traveling back through the borderlands into England. Day 3: Leave Shrewsbury and drive to the hills of the Peak District National Park, where you will discover a mix of beautiful villages and rolling moors. Take a scenic route through the park to the village of Castleton. In the afternoon, visit the famous grouds and mansion house of Chatsworth, home to the Duke of Devonshire and often named the UK’s favourite country house. Inside, you’ll find one of the finest collections of furniture and paintings by Old Masters, as well as Neoclassical sculptures. Continue to the historic City of York, your base for the next 2 nights. Day 4: Today you have the option to spend the day at leisure exploring the medieval heart of York. Wander the streets of a city with a rich history that dates back to the time of the Romans, Vikings, and Normans. Visit some of York’s fascinating museums, and the stunning York Minster, or just lose yourself in the maze of narrow streets. Alternatively, join your guide on a half-day excursion into the Yorkshire Dales to visit the pretty market towns of Knaresborough or Ripon. Continue your scenic drive of the remote valleys and rugged scenery of the Eastern Dales, before returning to York for a free afternoon. Day 5: Depart the fair city of York in the morning, stopping in the town of Lincoln, famed for its beautiful historic center and delicious Lincolnshire sausages. Continue to the university City of Cambridge, where you can stroll the medieval streets in the shadow of the dreamy spires of historic colleges, including the famous Kings College Chapel. This is a truly iconic Beacons day out and one that Andy is master of! Andy will be guiding you on a classic but lesser walked route to Pen y Fan's summit. Andy includes adventures throughout! Following the Taff up to it's source, this route we'll have to ourselves, some may get wet feet so good boots a must and waterproof socks are a good investment. Then it's the steep climb to Corn Du and onto Pen y Fan, taking in the views, seeking out the fossil beach, getting some fine instagram worthy snaps. It's then off piste once again and we'll have the mountain to ourselves as we hilariously slide own steep slopes on our bums. This is a truly hysterical experience! Old waterproof trousers are good here - Andy cannot be held responsible for wearing out your bum padding ;) We'll explore Llyn Cwm Llwch and discuss its mysteries before heading up to the sad memorial of Tommy Jones where Andy will relay the true facts of this case.
